I finally took lessons two years ago, and my grip was very bad. (Baseball, axe, etc.). I always check to see if my Vs are pointed at my right armpit. Best thing I ever learned.

Great video...I bought one of these years ago and have started using it again as I’ve been struggling to get to the range to practice. I have been using it for reps to work on my body turn but the moulded grip is a huge benefit. Early days but have noticed an improvement in my striking & accuracy in recent rounds.

I was fortunate enough to have one of those grip training aids back when I first started playing golf and I can probably thank that thing for never really having to worry about my grip. It definitely is a great thing to have around the house. Plus you can bash an intruder over the head with it if necessary.

I've got one when this first came out Years ago. They work and given me way more yards on the drives.. Doesn't happen over night but keep practicing, you will see results. Also note if I fall off ( everything go's to sh*t ) I'll swing that a few times on a couple holes to get me back into the groove again. Mind you, they aren't legal to have in a tournament play but it helps. Once you get confidence of striking the ball you'll be amazed what you can do for your handicap. I have nothing to do with this YT er or that Eq. I'm a weekend warrior like the rest of you.

Nice one Alex. Thank you. I’m not playing today (Sunday), however whilst watching and listening to this video I’m also sitting in my backyard which gives me a chance to watch people tee off from a Par 3. So as a result I’m paying more attention to others grips. Some are “interesting” (it’s a non competition day) and could improve significantly by watching this video. 👍😎🇦🇺

Well... i know some who own this "gaget" ... and i actually love it ... BUT it doesn't prevent strong or weak grip SINCE most of those come from wrist twists with a perfect grip .... BUT u can sure use this for THAT correction as to keep the lines of that grip facing correctly = straight away from u ... but most flaws in a weak or strong grip aren't from the grip itself.... SOME yeah cross it... one hand weak other strong ... vise versa ....
@michaelchittock3 жыл бұрын
Even though I manage to keep to single figures I still use that same aid. I have used it regularly for 20 years. I also use one that slides over your club and you can actually hit balls. I know the grip is extremely important but I wish I did not think about it so much ☹️😊

Great video Alex, Question: what if your grip is neutral but you bow the wrist at the top of the backswing like DJ and John Rahm.. etc... wouldn't that close the face upon impact ?? I tried a strong grip but it failed me due to a cupped wrist. When I changed to neutral but bowed the wrist more it made it squared at impact if not 1.0° closed if anything. It also made rotation a lot more better and path neutral from over the top. My experience ^^

this is a good example, but this is all dependent on the swing and swing path. look at the Ben Hogan grip which is weak, yet he could hit a draw. swing path is key but a good grip is key.

Another good video thanks for your hard work and effort in the channel! I’m within first 4 or 5 months of playing golf and still struggling get my left arm straight completely straight when playing a full shot… just an idea for a video for you to go through the points that could help this problem. Many thanks love the channel
@midlifebiker74243 жыл бұрын
Lots of ppl struggle to get their lead arm totally straight at the top of a full swing. Its usually down to lack of strength or flexibility in their core. The arms control the club face, the swing comes from the waist down. Try to hold the correct position to see where the resistance is, Im in my 50s and work on core strength and stretch every day so the arms can swing freely. Hope this helps...
@christopherhughes4972 жыл бұрын
Are yu hinging the wrists in the backswing? I found that when I started hinging properly and remembering to, my arm was easier to keep straight. A little bend is also ok, even many pro's don't have a perfectly straight arm.
@jeff059893 жыл бұрын
so i have an opposite problem. my left hand would have a pretty neutral/stronge ish grip. however my trail hand feels very OVER covering my lead hand as if it was a weak grip. but that grip gives me a very straight shot. golf is hard

Any advice for someone who’s completely lost their game? Gone from an 8 handicap to knocking it round in the 90s. Keep coming down steep and fatting irons and skying driver. Thankfully short game and putting is still pretty good or I’d be throwing the clubs in the bin!
@AlexElliottGolf2 жыл бұрын
Where do you feel like you are losing your game?
@stevebatty25182 жыл бұрын
Alex. Had a lesson just after new year trying to stop a 5-10 yd pull with longer clubs. I’ve always just gone over top slightly on down swing. Now I feel like I’m stuck on right hand side and use all arms, resulting in thins fats and pushed slices. I’ve lost the ability to turn my hips in the down swing. I’m slow getting it back but just so inconsistent at the moment.

@AlexElliottGolf- My thoughts are this. The USGA won’t allow this training aid to be used during play in fear that it would benefit the player. On the other hand, pros can use superior equipment not readily available to amateurs. They also know teaching technics and secret aids that they use themselves which takes years for amateurs to learn. Unlike other sports who all use the same exact 🏀 🏈 ⚽️ balls. Golf allows different balls and equipment and resources not available to all players. Even the amateurs courses are cow patches compared to professional tracks. But we can’t use supposed enhanced equipment but they can? I call poppycock! I call foul! lol

I love your content Alex and definitely benefit from it but any chance you could stop using the “SHOCKING” word in the thumbnails? I believe KZbin recommend the use of this word as a means to gaining more views but in your case I don’t think you need it. I doubt many people are sucked in by “Shocking” content which turns out to much less than shocking. It might even turn some viewers away.
