Good stuff, Micah. I can proudly say that any steam bent or stave shell drum that K-WAT Drum Co sells, is a Cask Drum Craft shell.

And I do appreciate that! Thank you 🙏

Micah, it’s so awesome that your business is thriving! You are amazing. You cut the edges on my messed up vintage Ludwigs 10 years ago when I was in college with Josh Fry and I was completely blown away by what you were making tucked away in Idaho and under the radar. You are the unsung hero of modern drums

Thank you man! I don't know how the heck I left your name out of the video. You literally build the entire drum 😭

Well said I make my own stave shells, but with my current tool setup, I can’t build less than 12” diameter. I had an order for 10” stave drum and had it made by Micah. It was well built and just what I needed. Keep up the good work! Thanks for your insight

Hey thank you! Keep up the good work and I'll try to as well!

Definitely sell out! It’d be even better if you could eventually make it so where it’s known that you’re making the drums through them. Like when big companies do collabs with boutique builders, it usually comes out awesome! But definitely sellout! Good for you!

I don't look down on any drum builder. Who the heck are these idiots calling drum manufactures assemblers. You do you without apologizing. The pride you show is evident in this video, even in your smile. I am just about done building my 2nd snare drum ever, 6 years after my first. But I am only a player and just build for myself. I am proud of my drums, but all my components are sourced. Keller built both of my shells, and all else comes from mixed large name companies except maybe my own badging. I don't care, they are my designs and sound unique and the way I want them to sound. I have no shop, no drill press, not even a carpenter square, basically use a handheld drill, and sandpaper. After seeing this video, if I build a 3rd someday, I am getting my shell from someone with your pride in their work. Thanks

Sure wish you could do an 8" shell. Is the reason because it's so tight?
@caskdrumcraft8 ай бұрын
@@ronaldperry yes, can't bend 8" diameter with consistency. I can build an 8" in stave shell form for you though.

Tough to say. You’re obviously a drum builder since you build shells and that’s where it starts. Without a shell there is no drum. If I make lugs and rims I am a drum hardware builder. If I then buy your shells and put my hardware on them then I can add assembler to the list too ha haaa. But would I consider myself to be a drum builder probably not. If I designed specific shells such as materials sizes edges snare beds thickness etc and worked with you and actually made some shells with you and knew how to make drum shells and just let you make them for me then yes I’d consider myself a drum builder. If I just came to you and said hey make me a standard drum standard size standard edge and I put my name on it and some generic tune lugs or something then I’d consider myself an assembler trying to sell my brand. Funny thing is that most overseas drum shells make shells for brand names so it’s cheaper. Say for example I have a DW collectors kit it’s made in USA and put together in USA etc etc but if I bought a pdp or a I forget what it’s called their design series it’s not the same shell or hardware. I also own a Gretsch Renown kit that is not made by Gretsch in the US I’m pretty sure it’s made overseas. So if the same company makes a DW shell for the design kits and the renown kits for Gretsch are they the same shell and these companies are just assemblers?? I’d say no. The shells are prob made to certain specs etc to make them different. Anyways definitely an open topic ha haaaa 🔥🥁 and who cares just play some drums 🔥🥁

Thanks for the feedback! All very valid points here. At the end of the day, you're right. Just play some drums!

No one had issue with Keller making DW for 15 or so years. So ..just play what sounds good.
