Speaking as a retired Psychiatric nurse, I tend to feel that this teenager may have planned this attack. I doubt that it was an impulsive act driven by psychosis. On the other hand , illicit substances can have an adverse effect on thought patterns and behaviour. Had there been some predisposing factors,, you would like to think that the parents would have sought medical advice. We can only speculate at this point with regards to a motive . I tend, on balance, to rule out acute psychosis at this stage.

For clarification, many people are angry regarding Mark Teeton because his name was only in the news for around 24 hours and, then, the entire media focused on the Manchester airport incident. It felt very much like Mark's brutal attack was being buried. We have not received any updates on that poor man's current condition, how severe his injuries currently are, or how his family are coping. That would not interfere with a court hearing or bias any proceedings. That excuse is not good enough. A prominent and serving member of the military was viciously attacked and his injuries were treated as less news worthy or as important as a group of violent thugs in an airport who attacked officers. The media whipped up a storm about the latter news and were not so concerned with spreading misinformation and almost creating a riot for that as they are in criticising the same for this incident. Criticise both equally or not at all. Funny how the goalposts are moved, dependent upon the narrative and favoured side, and that selective convenience works.

A friend of mine was murder by a man whose mother had been injured. My friend went to see if she was alright, and this man ran him over and killed. It went to court, and the verdict was no verdict by the jury. The judge recommended them. The man also attacked people with a knife. He was. Just compare the reaction of politicians, police and all manner of celebrities to the ”water-boarding” case of the syrian boy. No one, absolutely no one, was warning about rush to jugdement or the importance of protecting underaged suspect. No one was even interested in investigating the motivation or what may have happened prior to the incident. Just contrast that trivial schoolyard scuffle between 2 boys, to the butchery of small girls, and how people spoke in public.

I think it's a case of British people no longer trusting the government the police or the media to have their best interests at heart.
