Table came out great! Little off topic from the table is your thought on your miter saw. I know you tried a few brands and always seem to come back to the Rigid. I have a Kobalt that needs to be replaced. Is the Rigid your #1 pick still or is there some good runner ups?
@tomatha37133 жыл бұрын
@@solitudewoodworking I have the Ridgid 12" sliding miter saw and it's a beast, BUT, I just learned that Delta is making a Cruzer model for Ridgid that I will be keeping an eye out for a review on. It's priced at $499, so pretty attractive for my budget.

I've been away for a couple of years but have always enjoyed and learned a lot. You used to explain what's going on and how things work. You're not the only one. I wish everyone go back to the old format. Another thing is everybody used to do builds with tools that most people have and now it's all about Big machines that does all the work. The average person can't afford these incredibly expensive machines. Anyway it's not like I'm going to stop watching you. Just a thought for you to consider. Thanks Jay

To debark stuff like this slab, use a Triton Superjaws to hold one side and the other side resting on a sawhorse. This puts the slab vertical and so the live edge is on top and easy to draw knife. I've done this ALOT with live edge (natural curve) timberframe braces. Also it's always best to remove the bark while green if possible. It's harder when dry. Also depends on if the sap was running or not when it dried.

Hey Jay, very nice project, thank you for showing! I am building a special dog box for cars and we are using our CNC to cut the panels. For being able to do a horizontal cut we would like to use a "horicontal fracer blade" that can make a 1,5 mm (European!) wide slot into the sides of the panels to hide the hinges! Can you recommend a product that can handle that best? Thanks from Vienna, Austria, Hans

I love the dog bone tenons. So interesting what can be done with a CNC Machine. I definitely can see it takes a lot of the actual work out of the project. But, that’s obviously the industry trend and I wont bother dissing the newer machines. And I know from watching your videos how much actual skill you bring. Cutting out time is awesome… The thing that does bother me about these types of machines (and this is literally what bothers me and would apply to if I was building it) is that I would feel that the machine built something and not me.
