Fantastic Jay. I’m figuring out how to do with my dewalt and make it adjustable left to right. I’ve been inspired. Wish me luck!

I know this video is old in KZbin years, but I do have a question about the process on the planer. You kept a short section of the board and kept running it through the planer and pushing your stock sideways while it was running through. I’ve never seen this done. What is the purpose of both?

Hi mate, really impressive. Ive just had mine cut and ready to build. What weight can it hold as im concerned by the legs possibly snapping?

Beautiful But when you said CNC and Vector you lost me. I have no clue how to use any of that modern computer stuff. If I could find a drawing and trace that onto the wood I could cut it out. Ron USCG RET

Ok Jay. You just got my respect . For me this ranks as one of if not the most valuable post you’ve aired. Thanks for being honest. You’ve just saved someone from getting severely injured. Cutting rounded pieces on edge with a bandsaw is inherently dangerous. We have all been guilty of that lapse. Stay safe.

This is amazing! I'm in Scotland and struggling to find anyone with a CNC to cut this for me. Looks like I'll have to hand draw and jigsaw it out.

When the lift is in the down position consider at the loft floor a hinged door/safety rail that is rotated by the lift as it ascends/descends. This would protect any one still up in the loft from falling through the lift floor opening.

I am having trouble finding many videos on this style of doweling. I love it and want to use it to incorporate more metal.

You literally saved me from breaking my face. I watched your video a few months ago and fortunately learned a bit about the dangers of sawing a round object. I was cutting cookie slices out of a cherry burl. Not completely round, and I thought I had enough flat contact with the bandsaw table. Had it in what I thought was a good safe grip, but based on your accident, I put on a heavy face shield. One minute I was making my final cut, the next minute I noticed I was no longer holding the wood piece, and the face shield was on the floor. The cookie spun out of my hand faster than my eye could follow, blasted off the shield and bounce across the room. No injury, just disbelief. I thought I was cautious before, but now I’m going to take that to a whole other level. I owe you one face!!!

Jay, love the layout, would highly suggest though to go with a 14' wide door. That extra width will go a long way with just the maneuvering of materials and equipment.

I saw a cool bench at Beavers Bend in SE Oklahoma and took a bunch of photos of it so I could try to build it myself. Turns out it was a bench made according to this video. So now I have actual plans. Can't wait to build it! Great looking bench!

I also used Carolina air systems for my duct work and I can absolutely say the snap it duct from them is great hands down. Good idea about using magnets for the blast gates. Where did you get them from so I can buy some strong magnets? Thank you!

is it possible to add drop downs on each side to permanently add the conveyor racks? when needed lift the sides up and lock into place and lower when not needed.

dude.. with all that square footage on your roof you should seriously consider solar . there would be more than enough power for your house and your shop. Not sure if Mississippi is a net metering state, if so bonus for you you can use the electric company as your battery. FREE AC DUDE!

I immediately thought of a loft with a ladder above the apartment for your daughter. Lots of room to be a kid. A little bit of privacy for everyone. Logistic issues with heating and cooling probably. But much more space for her and potential storage maybe. Great storage area for after your house is built too.

I live an hour north of you. I’m an electric contractor, I have a 5000 sq ft shop, it is not cooled and it’s brutal in the summer time. If I was doing woodworking or otherwise spending all day out there it would be air conditioned no ifs ands or buts!

Jay, do you have a plan for your Conex once you populate your shop? Maybe storage behind the shop? Or even better: modify to become a kiln for when you get that mill!?

Was wondering what happened to you. Forget the analytics, building videos always bump up sub counts. I love woodwork, but when my makers begin a build video, I love to tune in and watch the progression. I’ve noticed on many of my woodworking channels that when a shop or house were being made, those subs skyrocketed. Mr. Build It, Samaria Carpenter, Woodbrew, Laura Kampf and Crafted Workshop as well as Third Coast Craftsman all increased their base while still posting on their woodworking channel. I could be wrong but I don’t see second channels as doing as well as primaries. Just like bands that break up and go solo??? 🤷🏻♂️ In a fan of yours and enjoy the woodworking, CNC, SketchUp and now home builds. Maybe you’d reconsider or post on both channels and find out if it’s better. I know Laura Kampf made a special video just stating that her sub count skyrocketed when she bought a house to build and they requested she continue making house build content. Just my honest opinion. Keep up the great work and curious as to what direction you go.

Jay why not park the camper where you had your truck? Then you could still put the bathroom in the shop. If you build the apartment then your guest would have to come into your living space to use the restroom. Would the apartment be temporary? Also park your wife’s car the same direction as your tractor that will also give you a lot more room length wise. Love your channel and look forward to more videos.

Have you considered elevating the entire apartment? It would allow for storage below it......lumber, metal, etc.
