What did this dox box cost, plus how much in extra parts to run one? Nice review just looking at a ball park price one should expect.

for everything you're looking at around 4500 - 5000. it seems pricey but I've already spent 1500 on two different transmission that break. I got friends who paid around 3k for a t56 and its going out after a year, for 1500 more you can get a GF4A and rip on fools for along time. also they make bell housings to fit 1jz 2jz etc. its more of a long term investment. you can find them used for a lot less btw.

Sweet yeah thats not too horrible, I know a CD009 swap for my sr would prob run 4-5g minimum. This might actually be a second reasonable option.

Do you have to let off the throttle when up shifting? Or blip the throttle in a down shift?

You should lift the throttle a little when upshifting but not fully and you should blip the throttle on downshifts, I think it is also possible to not do that but you will wear out the transmission quickly

Helical or straight is nothing to do with it being a dog box. You can get all helical in a dog engagement box, all straight in a synchro box and vice versa of both.

Yea, he demonstrates a little later in the video too, all you have to do is come off the accelerator and then put it into the gear you want then back on the gas.

It cost me a few $$ to figure out how to shift a dog box properly. Great video!! I used to run Jerico 5-speed with 800hp, road race. Take a look at www.geartronics.co.uk/flatshift.htm. It can be used with any dog box. It would be an easy fit for the toploader. I use it with a Quaife transaxle, no paddles. The clutch choice is even more important for clutchless shifting. This is what I use, there are afew competing products. Unlike, most people, i think electrical solenoids are better then air... Will be better and lighter!
