I have had the pleasure of owning and hunting over two, very good bird dogs. The first, an Irish Setter. Very hard headed when young but turned out extremely good both in the field and at home. The second was a Brittany, easy to train, great in the field and my constant companion whether hunting or not. Thank you for putting these videos up on KZbin. I really enjoyed this episode and look forward for more.

Welcome to the KZbin- podcast world, Craig! I'm a 65-year-young hunter and overall avid outdoorsman from New Jersey, and I've been hunting in the tri-state area and Pennsylvania for many years. I've had the pleasure of hunting upland game with a variety of breeds, including German shorthaired pointers, German wirehaired pointers, English setters, Brittany spaniels, Labrador retrievers, and even beagles. And still I'm learning more and more about hunting /gun dogs. I've always been an outdoor enthusiast and have hunted and fished in a variety of terrains and environments. While I don't believe that there's a one-size-fits-all approach to hunting with dogs, I do believe that with patience and training, any breed can learn new skills. In particular, I've never subscribed to the belief that a pointing breed dog can't be trained to flush and retrieve. It may not be typical, but it's certainly possible with the right approach. That being said, I do enjoy the challenge of hunting with a German shorthaired pointer and a retrieving dog or a point/flush dog by my side. Now on to energy level of certain breeds that maintain a higher level of stamina regardless of diet and conditioning. Oh I can go on and on my new found friend. This is great - I have a copy of Volume 1 and we are ordering Volume 2! Your book is beautifual and has been an invaluable tool as a CKC Sporting judge since many of the newer breeds in Canada have very little information or breed clubs that are fully set up to support study. Also I am a second generation pointer owner, breeder, trainer in a variety of dog sports (show, obedience, field, agility and my mother was a founding member of the Pointer Club of Canada) so really excited about Volume 2!

As an English pointer enthusiast coming from Europe, I notice some very important differences between the English pointers we have in Europe and the English pointers in the US. Can you please make a video describing and explaining these differences?

I've had terriers most of my life, but always yearned for a pointer but working was always my inhibitor, since retirement I've finally got one she is 6 the best 6 years I've had, best breed, they are the Aston Martin of the dog world, unfortunately she will be my last dog don't want to depart and leave a dog behind, enjoy life is short

The trouble is some of the bunny hugging showing fraternity are spoiling the breed, breeders should only allow dogs go to those who work the dog
