When I first got my pomeranian she was 18 months old. I took her to the vet. Vet said according to how bad her teeth was she was 8 yrs old. I started brushing her teeth daily and used coconut oil. I took pics of her teeth to monitor her progress. There was so much improvement. I just recently noticed my 7 yr old male Pom is starting to get the tarter and plaque on his teeth too so now I have to come up with a game plan for HIM. He’s not as cooperative in getting his mouth messed with so I think this is gonna be fun, NOT! Btw I knew my girl was actually 18 months and not 8 yrs cuz I had her paperwork.
@alexandrakennedy8078 Жыл бұрын
That really something how your Vet thought your Pom was 8 yrs by her teeth when she was really only 18 months. I wish I'd know this info years ago for my little rescue dogs. They had bad teeth and were impossible to let me clean their teeth. It was like they thought I was going to torture them or something.

@@alexandrakennedy8078 tbh I think my Willow was kept in a cage all her life and just neglected. When I first got her her paws were all splayed out like she had been in a cage all that time. Not too long after I got her she started having seizures and I’m sure they didn’t just start when I got her. So either she was so neglected that the owner never saw the seizures or she knew about them and that’s why she decided to get rid of her. I’ll never know but she’s in safe hands now. When she came to me she was shaved down to bare skin and when I asked the lady why she did that, cuz everyone knows you don’t shave Poms like that, she told me she didn’t like cleaning up all the fur she shedded a few times a year. Poms SHED! If you don’t want a dog that has all that fur and sheds get a freaking chihuahua! Can you tell I’m STILL pissed even after 2 yrs?? Willow is the sweetest dog ever, despite where she came from.

You are the most amazing vet I’ve come across. I live in Australia, and I’m a pensioner, the money we get on the pension really doesn’t allow for you to take your dog to get vet care. Our Vets are so money orientated they won’t let you pay the bill off. So your animal suffers. I know of people that have made the choice to surrender their animal to be re- homed just so they can get medical treatment. Then they become lonely and depressed because of their lose. It is so dame sad. By you doing this, you are giving people the opportunity to administer good health treatment at a low cost to the owner. So thank you for your expertise.

Same here in England. I think it’s unfair vets do not let customers pay in instalments. I found a pet insurance that is affordable although the issue is the access charge that has to be paid and it’s usually around £100.

The plaque off worked for my dog with the most plaque, but results showed around six months while eating dental sticks. What really helps is chewing. My other dog is not a chewer so I’ve been mixing in some kibble in his food. He plays with his dental sticks and ignores biscuits/treats. My youngest dog had some plaque build up and it went away within the first week. She loves to chew and eats any treats (including dental) without a second thought.

Raw bones will clean even bad tarter buildup if you can get an older dog to chew. May take a few times since the teeth/gums may be sensitive. If they chew and clean up some of the tarter, give them a few days and more bone and they will progress to more teeth.

The spray is great for dental issues too! I might buy that. I'm currently trying the Jasper 360° finger toothbrush that's 100% silicone and Radius organic pet dental gel. Those are great tips. What if they're okay with the toothbrush? Can any of these ingredients be used in conjunction with enzymatic toothpaste? Thanks for the info.

Since Tula let's you put your finger in her mouth maybe you could make a "brush" from a very thin and soft baby wash cloth wet with one of those products. Someone told me that this worked with their dog! 😺🐶

I'm confused how something like honey loaded with sugar that feeds plaque can help elimate plaque? I'm skeptical about that one.

Natural raw honey is also a powerful antibiotic. Healers have been using it for millennia to treat wounds and infections. Manuka honey is know as wound honey and is especially effective because the Manuka tree is closely related to Tea Tree.

How can I get coconut to the right consistency? My experience is it’s either hard or watery. I’m a believer in it’s power to keep teeth clean, as using Hello toothpaste with coconut oil means I rarely need my teeth cleaned at the dentists anymore.

I've seen noticable results from the Bark bright sticks and gel in my retired greyhounds, which have notoriously bad teeth.

generic kelp powder works just as good. but yes i think the iodine content limits the amount you can give. i accidentally imbalanced my dog's diet with too much iodine with a fish head bone broth that I made and during that time his raw meaty bone scraped off A LOT of stubborn plaque. i correct the iodine dosage though after i found out

I also would like to know the answer about the yeast infections in the dogs ears to please Dr, Jones. I know you mentioned if I recall it right that it could be some kind of allergies. FOOD or surroundings, lots of things to try and sort out. I have stopped feeding them food that has any peas or pea powder in there food they 3 different breeds of dogs have now less shaking of their heads and less excessive licking them selves. But I do feel that they still have some issues still with there ears and dirt, debris moist in the ears. I truly feel stopping any form of pea bi products has help. Can you suggest any other thought about the ear issues. Please. Thank you very much for your time and support and listening very appreciated. 😊🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🤟👀💖🤟👄💋🐶 BYE FOR NOW😊
