Agreed! Who leaves a dog outside knowing that they are pack animals!? They NEED to be with their family. It’s a need, not a luxury. It would be as bad as forcing a human toddler to live alone while observing everyone else cosily playing together nearby.

As a outdoorsman myself, I raised 4 baby raccoons until they were able to survive on their own. I also had 2 Rottweilers a male and female. Those baby coons grew up with my dogs. After a couple of years, they came back and brought the kits with them! My dogs played and slept with the moms and babies. Raccoons are awesome creatures, and only become dangerous when their lives are threatened! I have had many close up encounters with wild animals, and I've never had a problem with them! I have saved many different wild animals over the years! Some caught in traps, snares, fence entanglements and other human made dangers! Yes I am a animal lover, and I have no fear of them! Animals can sense weather you are a good or intend to harm them!

My infant daughter. We worked on a horse farm when she was born. The animals were fascinated by our "human foal." We laid her in her blankets on the grass while we worked. One of the barn cats, and the owner's pomeranian took their places on opposite sides of the blanket and laid down with purpose. The owner of the dog approached.....and it growled. He called, and it refused to leave the baby's side. The horses used their big rubbery lips to sniff at her head, and the tiny blonde hairs on it. As she began to learn to walk, they slowly walked behind her, holding their heads upright next to her back. They were probably horrified that it took more than a year for her to walk unassisted. They likely figured she was .....slow. When we first put her on their backs, they stood like statues, like they do if a chicken or cat is napping on their back. Would not proceed. When she later did that in full tack, they were nothing but cooperative to her, walking so carefully. They have feeling, they prodded my expanding belly with their noses shortly before she was born (breeding farm!) and were fascinated by her when she finally dropped. As they were familiar with pregnant mares and foals, pretty sure they knew exactly what was going on. And she grew up with absolutely no fear of them. All good!

I had a friend that had a Border Collie that took to keeping a whole flock of domesticated Ducks confined to the grass in the yard. He would watch them, and if they got close to the edge of the yard, he would jump up and herd them back to the grass. Then he would go back to his watching spot and wait until the next transgression of his authority. It was fun to watch.

Racoons both attacked my neighbors cat, and kept breaking into another neighbors house to eat their cats food from the inside dishes. They even went in when their kids were home and scared the heck out of them. Another went on my roof and used it for a toilet. We got enough traps and eventually caught each and every one. The only other wild animal that we finally got rid of was an opossum that also was a major pain. (Those and the raccoons are invasive species where we lived.) Not cute, but pests.
