As a veterinary technician, we have to understand animal behavior to do our jobs safely and effectively. The techniques that Victoria uses have helped me not only in my career field, but also when I worked as a dog groomer, a dog trainer, and an animal behavior tester. They have also helped me with my own personal pets. Thank you, Victoria, for being who you are, and sharing your knowledge with the world.

My dog does the same thing because she was viciously attacked when she was 9 months old & just trying to go potty. My Bonnie is a Pembroke Welch Corgi & the other dog was half boxer & pitbull! Her owner never had her on a leash because she said she'd always listened to her, until she didn't! That's why you always leash your dog unless you're on your fenced in property!

@RosieRoan

This is why if you ever decide to buy a puppy, you *must* get them accustomed to social interactions with other dogs, and people. For example, if you keep your dog penned up inside, don't walk it, or get it used to the outside world/other dogs, of course it is going to be antisocial, anxious, and aggressive when exposed to these experiences. It is better to start young, rather than to wait until it becomes a major problem. Also, a dog that isn't given regular exercise will have tons of nervous energy- especially for bigger dog breeds that need more exercise. This will cause a dog to sometimes release this nervous energy in a negative way. I know some individuals that waited until their puppies were adults to start walking them, trying to get them socialized, and getting them accustomed to a leash/harness, and, now, these dogs are nightmares when being walked- pulling/tugging their leashes, snarling/nipping people and other dogs, and, some dogs will even be so anxious (shaking, shedding fur due to stress etc.) that they don't want to even go out for a walk, and will want to come back to their house.

How do you train for that? My dog is like that, she’s great with literally any other dog but my moms dog because he always starts fights, and then she tries to finish, and I usually have her pry her jaws open off him. But I can take her to a dog park and even unmuzzled she’s never been aggressive.

@@jordananderson2874 questions are welcomed on my channel just so you know. Plus Ruby and I really would love your support. I even welcome other channels to post as well. I like to use a lot of sound aversion in my dog teaching. Anytime your dog reacts in a negative way use a short burst from an air horn and when they behave you reward. Do not get too close though with the air horn at least 3 feet away. Air horns also work wonders at breaking up dog fights once they have started.

I have a dog walking business, and my best trained dog won’t start fights, but he won’t let dogs walk over him when they start one! I found if I told him a command then corrected him when he didn’t listen, he’d start automatically listening again when we had to pass a dog he didn’t like as much. Now we walk off leash 99% of the time! I do usually have an e collar on him though, just as insurance incase he decides not to listen

Casper speaks perfect dog, so he'll be fine with socialisation. Not sure if he really needed the humans interrupt the communication with praise there, they were chatting in dog :D Casper's "I ain't messing, friend. I'm a good dog :)" calming signals: Licking nose, turning away, sniffing the ground continuously from the big dog comes in, aiming to take a long bend around the dog instead of going straight to it.

Her style of retraining and her knowledge in picking up certain behaviors of dogs to know how they're feeling has helped me a lot in helping train my dog and recognize signs to help prevent problems. Her advice has been very helpful for me to help my dog gain confidence and become well trained. He was a rescue found abandoned but with obvious signs of being abused by men. From watching Victoria growing up, I've used her techniques to help transform my handsome boy in reducing his fear aggression and becoming such an intelligent, loving, and social butterfly. My dogs reacts the same way after getting attacked so many times. Trying to get them back outside with little steps at a time starting with just taking them outside in the front garden hiding treats in hopes he finds outside fun again

Why are you letting your dog get attacked so many times??? Are you taking him to a dog park?

@@sophiewhyte6534 Oh gosh that's awful. Maybe hold your dogs in your arms until you get to a safe area. I have a pitbull in my area and I don't like when can he comes up to my dogs, so I immediately cross the street or turn and head back home. When the coast is clear I head back out. Whenever I see a big dog off leash I immediately pick my dogs up and head back home. It's our job to protect those pup's. ❤️

My shih tzu used to do the same thing because he was scared as well. I used this exact same training technique as she is doing. Works a charm. I used to have to avoid other dogs like the plague but no problems at all now

Hi I have the exact problem and was wondering how you trained your shih tzu ?

@@kaylietsang5062 I took pieces of chicken with me when on walks and as soon as I saw another dog, I made him sit and look at me. When I looked at the other dog and didnt react , even for a second, I gave him a piece of chicken. Only works if you react quickly with the treats. I just kept doing that and he soon associated him behaving with getting chicken. I now have another dog and walk in the park with him surrounded by dogs and he is no bother at all.

@@kaylietsang5062 Took a while. At least 6 months of training. Have to keep it consistent though. Our vet thought I was bringing on a different dog when I we walked in and my shih tzu just waggles his tail at the other dogs lol

@@debbiepeter112 thank you so much for replying 🙏 Does he have any problems meeting other dogs now ? And did you go further with your training? Or just consistently giving chicken treats did the trick ?

Casper is just like my dog. Lashes out at any dog that gets close. She's fine with pups though. All she wants to do is run and play with them. I'm guessing that be her playful nature and motherly instinct.
