Dogfight Of The Day #13 I-153P Chaika vs. F4U-1A in War Thunder

All in all the thought process of that F4U pilot wasn't too bad. He generally did the right maneuvers but what lead to his demise was the timing of these maneuvers and a critical mistake after he overshot. At 0:34 he initiates a dive (maybe a little too close so I was able to give him a love tap) and starts his climb at 0:42. I mentioned this in the video, prior to zoom climbing he should've at least extended straight until he reached a distance of around 2k and then start climbing (also at more shallow angle) until he would've reached a distance of at least 3k and an altitude difference of 1.5-2k. At 1:13 he iniates a high yoyo to engage me, but the problem is that he's too close (both horizontally and vertically). You can see him complete his turn when he's only around 1k away from me at 1:22. In the best case you should still hold at least 2k in both directions here to gain a significant energy advantage. Now he simply does not have enough time to gain a proper energy advantage as he immediately has to commence his attack. This is why his energy state is just a bit higher than mine and I'm able to get a good shot into him at 1:36. He could have avoided this if, instead of turning into me at 1:31 and turning vertically, he'd turn in the opposite direction and immediately put his plane into a steep dive. This way he probably could've gotten away. Thanks.

They're both good. The Chaika gets a little more competitive planes to fight against. Makes it more interesting.

@@wickedwilliwonka I prefer the M-62 because I cannot afford premium and there is something so much more satisfying about shredding a P-40 with 7.62 It's also worth mentioning that I main Air Arcade USA but I can still bet 3+ kill games on realistic with the Chaika

Your ping does play a certain role, this engagement was on a EU server (where I usually have very low ping around 20), but when I'm flying on US servers (with a ping at around 120) making Hispanos work is a lot harder.
