Great channel mate, Another thing to keep in mind is, if using a multi leg set of chains, but you only going to use one leg for a straight lift, the lifting capacity of one leg of the chain is equivalent to what ever the rating is at 120° for the chains your using.

Hi mate, thank you for all those valuable videos. Can you use slings under the spreader bar instead of fswr?
@kieranstraining4 ай бұрын
Yes you can use any sling you like under a spreader bar fswr, chain or synthetic as long as it is rated for the task

G'day mate cheers for what you're doing here, I've got a question about the chain load charts. When I was up in Queensland my top hand told me when you've got your chains at lets say 60 degrees reeved around a square load you can just use the column on the chart for the single chain reeved around the half square half round load and then multiply that by the angle factor rather than using the first column (single leg no reeve) then multiplying that by the angle factor then the reeve factor. Is this correct? It makes sense to me because they've already provided the reeve factor, if indeed that drawing on the chart represents reeved around a round or square load. Cheers

Gday Ben, you are correct you can do that or alternatively you can look at what is typically the last or second last column on the chain chart which will give you the wll already worked out for 60 degrees and reeved. You are also correct in the reeving factor being the same around a square or round load when using chains. Just make sure to double check on the chain tag before using to ensure you were looking at the correct grade of chain.

If you're looking at doing the dogging course I would recommend the videos on crane whistle and hand signals and the video on dogging knots
