Tips for approaching and petting cats: -Avoid staring in their eyes, they can see it as aggression (slow-blinking is the opposite of staring, its like saying “you can trust me”). -Dont come too close, let them come to you. -Dont make any sudden movements, act calm and move in a way that is predictable for the cat so you dont scare them. -Reach out your hand (not all the way) and let them smell it so they can identify you. -If they let you pet them, do it calmly, pet them on their head and do not pet their belly, it is a really sensitive area. -If the cat walks away, do not go after it and let them go if they dont want to be pet, going after it will just make it scared.

I see a lot of people failing to befriend cats because they're just going about it the wrong way.. Don't approach a cat like it's a dog, like you KNOW its going to respond positively to you, approach it like its another human being, be chill. Cats pick up on your energy like static, and too much energy (Even positive energy, like excitement at seeing a cute kitty), will freak them out. This is the same reason why cats tend to approach the one person in the room who genuinely doesn't like them, because that person is the only person who isn't freaking out. Imagine if you approached a stranger on the street with the same energy you show a dog - Would you be freaked out? Chances are, ya would. That, or you're the kinda person who'd def hop into a mans van if he told you he had candy inside. I feel like I got the exact opposite "spiritual energy" to you, cats tend to approach me a lot, while dogs.. Seem to get confused by me, lol. Maybe it's because I don't hype them up, or fawn over them excessively? Sadly most of my experiences with dogs in the past have been negative ones. I did bond with one really sweet dog while doing work experience at a vets though, but it's not exactly like she had a choice since.. She was so sick she couldn't stand, so she couldn't exactly walk away from me. :( I just sat with her and kept her company, she was sweet. Sadly, other dogs just don't like me usually, lol.

@@WubbleDubble1 yeah so story time I don't remember this that much but when I was in Georgia possibly about two maybe three I was a dumb stubborn and tricky lad there's a lot of hilarious baby stories but we had three cats two females one male the male ended up getting both of them pregnant we had 13 cats I don't exactly know what happened to all of them but when we moved to Florida (when I was five and I'm still living here at 22 almost 23) I had two cats named Iceman and I believe something that rhymed with bologna because I called her bologna and we're just going to call her bologna for the sake of this story was a very rude cat and I didn't really like her not many people in our family did but Iceman was a really nice cat I loved him with all my heart so we lost both of them come to find out after a while of searching and asking people people bologna was apparently lost in the woods she's dead by now I guarantee it and Iceman they actually saw a cat just like him getting run over by a car just by your street when we came home I cried for a long time it's just sad thinking about it but what happened in the past happened in the past she was my favorite cat and we have had a cat since but I've met a couple cats somewhere nice couple of mean and I remember my mom's friend having three cats one was shy but getting more braver as she saw us and the names were Cayro, Loki, and Teddy or tedrick Cayro and Loki were really nice cats but Teddy he was like a mix he was happy at some points and then suddenly mad at others that's basically all I remember about cats but yeah I agree you are lucky that you got a good one

Fun fact: Cats roll over and show their belly because they trust you. It's not cause they want belly rubs, and it's *not* a trap. We just misinterpret what they're doin. Update: more info, cats usually go for bellies when fighting eachother, due to the soft flesh of their belly, so they may see this as a sign of agression sometimes

I have a cat, Tom (Used to a stray) and when I was really young, I picked him up and hugged him. A trip to the ER and only recently (6 years later) does he let me pets his belly, pick him up, and love him. I love cats, and I'm a magnet for them, so they love me! Dog are sweet but, they are header to take care of for they need a lot more affection (Which you can't give if you're at work a lot) and more care. For example cats don't need to be taken on walks or be trained. (Besides litter boxes) I loves dogs too, but if you're busy a lot, or you can't be bothered to take a dog on a walk, cats are a good pet.

i have this one bunny named biscuit and i give them grass and turn my head and she already ate all of the grass but jasmine never gets full (also I gave biscuit a middle name so when she does something wrong i say "Biscuit Cruesant Sanchez" and she gets scared also based on the bunny species i got you are able to put a leesh on them BUTT you have to gain their trust and have them learn their name like dogs)

I think that one of the biggest reasons why the smaller dogs are more feisty is that they're so tiny that they have to try and scare people to feel safe, since if someone tried to hurt them, they wouldn't be able to do anything, whereas, bigger dogs just naturally are more threatening, as is, since they're so big, so they don't really need to do that.
