Fun fact from an Aussie: A lot of the child voice actors (for bluey, bingo and some of their friends) are just children of the production team. They aren't listed in the credits to somewhat protect them and give them privacy since they're so young and becoming known at that age from such a popular show can become harmful. I just thought that was cool.

I think why all us grown ups love Bluey even those without kids is because Bluey is sort of a wish fulfilment fantasy show, at least for me. Her family is happy, they talk about things, her parents play with her and teach her lessons, and when she messes up, they still embrace her. The friendships are so charming, the representation is so healthy and the loving parents are so delightful. We all wish our childhoods had been even one tenth this healthy, but they weren't.

That’s unfortunately why I don’t enjoy the show. Is it good? Yeah. I think it’s an amazing show. Maybe because of my bad childhood but something in me refuses to go back to when I was a defenseless kid and yearned for where my family hugged and didn’t scream or hit me when I got upset. I know Bingo and Bluey are play fighting with Bandit but that just brought back the bad relationship between my dad and me. The episode that really sent me was "Camping". It unlocked a memory from my childhood of a kid from Argentina that vacationed at the same resort as I did in Daytona beach. We spent a whole week together despite not understanding one another's language. The lesson at the end, "Sometimes, special people come into our lives, stay for a bit, and then they have to go" is such a great way to deal with unexpected loss (either death or a friendship/relationship ending).

Also, “The Show” is ROUGH, having gone through infant loss. It’s the smallest thing, sure, but it’s absolutely real. We have a painting of our son we lost, and whenever our toddler sees it, she says “Baby!!” And does her “I love you” sign. We can’t cry every time she does that, of course.

It's probably like every kid's show that they slip in stuff for adults because they know a lot of adults watch with their kids. I would even say they slip stuff in to pique a kid's curiosity so that they will ask their parents about it and will give the parents something to talk with their kids about.
@pallen2645 Жыл бұрын
If I recall correctly, the team first pitched the show as an adult-oriented sitcom. More family-friendly than "adult animation" tends toward these days, but decidedly for parents. The show didn't get picked up, and so they retooled it to be more about the kids, but the shows original premise lives on. I'm sorry about your miscarriage. What I like about Bluey is that the parenting is not what some people might consider stereotypical "new-age" parenting, where the kids just do whatever they want with no repercussions. Yes, there is no violence in the house, like corporal punishment, but the girls are still properly parented when they do something wrong. It's kind of amazing to see, actually. That tightrope balance of keeping your kids in line while not resorting to physical punishment, and sorting problems out thoughtfully and respectfully. The couple of times where either parent is about to lose their temper is relatable, but they never, ever cross that boundary, and the overall picture is just such a loving, caring family. What a well done show!

Bluey did it so perfectly to avoid any outrage. Evolution moms can just point to that aspect and use the cave paintings to talk about greek mythology or what have you. Give both views the ability to interpret the episode in their favor and there's nothing to complain about lol

Seems to me like adding complications to evolution for the sake of religion, but whatever. It's like explaining Alaxander The Great's military success by his masterful strategy, technology, and that he was the Son of Zuse. My favorite is when Bandit(dad) makes a friend at the the playground. Contrasting how hard it is for adults, especially men, make new friends and open up to one another. The doubt he had on if he was liked, him only defining his relationship as it relates to Bluey being friends with the daughter, and him initially not knowing how to talk to him compared to seeing the children become fast friends is great. I wanna talk about one thing that was censored by Disney in Bluey. The army episode James mentioned is also about the kid with the army dad's friend, Jack. Jack is pretty clearly ADHD: he can't sit still, has trouble following directions and remembering names and numbers. When he goes to Bluey's school and plays army, his friend asks why he moved, asking if there was something wrong with his old school. Jack replies, "No, there's something wrong with ME." Which is a very deep thing that so many kids with ADHD can relate to, feeling like there's something wrong with them because their brains don't work like everyone else's. But in the Disney Plus version, Jack instead says "No, there's something GOING ON with me." Which totally takes all the punch out of the line.

Bluey is the exact way I want to have my future family. I'm 20 and there are so many things I've picked up on while actually sitting down and watching this show. Like he said in the video, everything about bluey is done so well that it has a grasp on millions of people.

One of the things I love most of all about Bluey is simply that they talk like actual Australians instead of an American sitting in a booth doing an exaggerated accent, or an Australian being encouraged by a director to emphasise stereotypes. It shouldn't be as big of a deal as it is, but when I was growing up I felt so alienised by American/Canadian films and shows, to the point where I started trying to unlearn my accent because I felt so self-conscious about it. I love this show so much its silly.

After the episode was over, everyone seemed like they were recalled to past memories where everything looked perfect. Correction, everything was perfect at that age. I'm a 34 yo father of 2 boys. We ALL love Bluey! Glad to see it get the recognition it deserves. It's a fantastic show and I'd be lying of I said I hadn't teared up a few times watching it.
