Dogs and Children In Search of Puddles

After a few days of rain on and off, the kids and dogs head off to find some puddles to jump in. Dressed ready for down pour, the children searched high and low. But there were just no puddles to be found, so they decided to make their own. Now soaked, it was then time for a warm shower, put on our pyjamas, Barney too, and settle in to watch Dog Gone. Elle asks if the dog will be found before we even start the movie, she explained she didn’t want to watch it if he never gets found. I can’t watch movies where the dog doesn’t make it either. I’m sure there might be others that feel that way too.

Right? My son’s kindergarten teacher said she couldn’t keep him out of puddles during the rain. I finally had to tell her that it’s because every time it rains we as a family went outside to play in the rain and jump in the puddles. Rain in CA was such a rarity that playing in it always made sense. It was a very fun and joyous event when my kids were little. I always felt and now feel this way with my grandkids, you only get so much time with them when they want to hang around and be with their parents before they want to be around their friends more than us. I made the most of every moment, just like I do now with my grandkids.

I’m watching this video for the first time now. I’m 64 and would cry as soon as the opening music played for Lassie on TV. Mum would remind me that whatever Lassie’s adventure was going to be she would always be ok at the end - but I pretty much cried my way through each programme. Thankfully for my emotions and Mum only once a week🤓🐶

I feel exactly the same. I can watch endless films where people die, but if it's suffering or dying animals, no thanks, and especially if it's some horrid human that causes the animal's death. I'm vegan now, wish I had always been, because I feel this for the pigs, cows, sheep and chickens too, sad that they are so cruelly treated to turn them into food, and they are just as deserving of our concern and empathy as dogs and cats are. Pigs are in fact just as intelligent as dogs and more intelligent than human infants under 3 years old. I am sorry we treat them so callously.

Totally agree. Chance is an old soul. He's been there and done that for good or for worse.....He just has this distinctive quality and wisdom about him. I feel that he thinks that his position at The Farm is being a body guard as he wants to repay all the kindness The Evans have shown him. So true about animal movies. It's a definite no if any animal is hurt especially dogs and horses. Can't believe how good all the dogs coats are after hours playing in the rain and hose. How do you keep them looking so sleek and dry, not to mention their muddy paws. Must take hours of grooming. The girls rain gear is something else and Wolfie's way of travel is death defying. I love Elles little husky voice. An actor or TV correspondent in the making! Its lovely to see how close the children are. Wolfie is a very lucky boy to have such sisters. Living in an apartment on a continent without the ozzy climate, my dog and I don't get a choice of "shall we walk in the rain?". All weather's we embrace it the same. For a greyhound he's surprisingly fine in rain, snow etc, absolutely loves a windy day he gets zoomy hyper! Hail stone however, is his achilles heel even with a coat on. We all have our limits I suppose : )

If you want to watch a great dog movie (happy ending), Rescued by Ruby is great. It is about a shelter dog that is rescued by a state trooper and she eventually joins the K9 unit. She had been adopted and returned to the shelter 7 times over a period of 6 months before she was finally adopted for good. Edit: Also meant to say that this is based on a true story.
