I love how dog training shows and super nanny shows are essentially the same. Except dogs learn faster.

As part of My training regime. Whilst my dogs are STILL Pups. I teach them that I Will give them a Bone/ Yogurt .. in tub/ any treat. Then I leave them 4 a few minutes before telling them, as I approach. That I AM coming to take away whatever they are happily munching on. Not once has ANY of my 3 dogs EVER growled/ shown their teeth Or behaved in a threatening manner whilst I do this exercise. Of course within a minute or so, whilst Still praising My Babies. I promptly return their Treasure. It ALWAYS works. I have 1 Full Boy Westie, Mac, 1 Girl Westie, Mizzie & 1 Rescued Spanish dog. She looks like a mini Irish Wolfhound and bays like a Wolf! hence her name Callie Wolfie! All 3 are so Precious & ARE MY Babies. xx

I just have to say Graham is the best. Also I do need to add that the removal technique or what I call the extinction technique is so powerful when you have a dog that wants to please their owner. I trained my puppy to not growl or bark or play too aggressively with a similar technique.

I just want to know how a JRT suddenly becomes very reactive as a 2 year old dog. First thought, I bet everyone bothered him all the time and didn't give him personal space, didn't let him nap as a puppy perhaps.

We had one that was the same. I think people give them to kids, thinking their size makes them great pets for children. But they don't necessarily liked to be picked up a lot, being high strung terriers. They can be very good with children but don't like a lot of handling. We had one that had the same issue because my sibling picked it up all the time. Then it got hit by a trailer and that amplified the aggression, and then it was amplified further when they were attacked by a big dog.

I think i should understand my dog body language better. I am the owner, one minute he loves the attention, then he turns. And when he does, i have multiple wounds, some gaping and dripping blood, and at best a bruise. This is a 7 kg small breed. I have had an older child wipe dripping blood behind me until i get to my sink to attend to my own gaping wound. While the dog has annual rabies shots as required where I live, last year my vet required me to go to hospital to have tetanus and complete human rabies shots, as these can build up gradually over many years of being bit.

Firmly hold the Jack Russell under the chin and over the muzzle with one hand but DON'T squeeze. Make him look you in the eye. Use the forefinger on your other hand to gently touch his nose and firmly tell him "No" in a slightly deepened voice. Never ever do it more than gently. Their noses are very sensitive and easily damaged for life. Do it two or three times, gently for a few seconds. When he stops growling pick him up bodily and out him on the floor without hurting him. Keep him off the sofa. It's psychological too. The sofa is for those in the upper hierarchy. A dog like that is best off of the sofa. Some dogs are fine one the sofa and don't try and dominate. Terriers of any sort need to have a firm rules and know they are not going to be the boss. Luna, why have food where she can pinch it? When you take on a dog or puppy you give it a beef bone. When it settles to chewing it you take it away for a few moments so the dog accepts your authority even over food. Don't keep it for more than a minute or two and don't do it too often. You are only establishing authority in the mind of the animal. I bet that poor Irish Setter never has enough exercise, at least 4 hours a day total when young, for the type of breed.

They said they wanted the Jack Russell on the couch as part of the family. He just needs to learn how to behave. The clip they had at the end of the episode he was walking over his dad on the couch and licking his face so it worked

The tension and fear radiating off that poor little dog just makes this impossible to watch. Why would you pet a dog who is screaming in dog body language that he is incredibly uncomfortable with the situation and needs space until he feels the need to snarl and bite, just so you can punish him by yanking him off the sofa? It's tragic that people don't care to educate themselves about dog body language but it is absolutely criminal that people like Graeme Hall perpetuate this ignorance and make money off it.
@vinceking76512 жыл бұрын
How would you deal with this situation.
@MsJubjubbird4 ай бұрын
It's discipline. If someone threated to punch you everytime you moved in their presence then law enforcement would get involved. This is the same. He needs to learn that he can be on the sofa but he must be nice. Dogs do not rule roost.

This is teaching ur dog to not be able to warn people and how to be a ticking time bomb if your dog gets put down it’s the trainers fault for manipulating the dogs and owners on this show
@Sosha666 Жыл бұрын
No. The dog is already a sofa controlling timebomb, it’s merely teaching the dog to behave itself on the sofa. There’s no confrontation, it’s a simple choice. A cause and effect. Would anyone in their right mind allow a dog that behaves like that on the sofa? No. That dog is so much happier without the responsibility.

@@youraverageytuber8474 It's right. Threatening people is not correct behaviour and he gets disciplined for it. The clip they showed at the end of the episode had the dog kissing the dad's face on the couch so it did work.
