Completely different. Not only do Dogs have an additional guitarist, which adds texture that Trey alone may not be able to make, but the playstyles of all of them differ quite greatly from Phish. Closest comparison would maybe be Jimmy's guitar tone and Trey's, but the keys and bass are played very differently by the two bands. And this is from a guy who listens to a lot more Phish than Dogs.

You couldn't be farther off this band is extremely creative in there writing and the interplay between guitarists adds a layer of complexity to the jams that simply isn't there with other groups.
