My first dog was a weiner dog. Great dog. People always smile when they see one. He did chase leaves a lot. He ate an Italian leather couch while still a puppy then stopped chewing soon after. A neighbor bought a pitbull and it got loose the first day she brought it home. He went right after my dog while I was walking him. I froze thinking my dachshund was done. Amazingly, he clamped down on the pit's ear, crouched down and started walking backwards pulling and scraping the dog's face side to side across the sidewalk. When I saw the dog bleeding I snapped out of it and yanked him off and the pit ran down the block yelping. Then the owner apologized to me. She returned her dog the next day and eventually got a 2 year old Rottweiler which fell in love with my little tough guy. I've had two dogs since but the weiner was a tough act to follow. Remember that dachshunds were bred to take on one of the nastiest creatures alive. Good luck.

I'm 50 yo, and still when I get out of bed in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, in the dark, for a second I'm feeling there's "something" under the bed staring at my bare feet... As for the dogs, yes...I am more of a cat person but I currently live with an 8 yo Malinois Belgian Shepherd, which is 78 lbs of pure love, but if I'm sad or stressed out, or just get a little nervous when I'm walking him and see another big dog unleashed crossing the street, he reacts to it immediately. Cats are complete a+++++les.

Dude, dachshunds are crazy. They are the best, but they are very defensive and aggressive because they don't realize how small they are. They will attack viciously. My dachshund actually bit a damn great dane's nose and made it bleed once at a vet's office. Luckily the Dane was more confused than upset.
@raifthemad4 жыл бұрын
Like every other dog they feed off the vibes of their owners. Two of our neighbours have had 2-3 of these dogs, each one of them rabid backstabbing POS(kind of got that kind of vibe from the owners as well so not surprised). But third neighbors dachshund is the chillest dog, never even heard it bark or growl. Just saunters around our neighborhood like a gentleman on a walk, while the first two families dogs never stick their nose outside of their own garden. I myself never classify the little yapping things as dogs though, I call them sausage on legs.

Pound for pound they are tough little dogs. And they are SO funny to hang with. My 1st doxie was Nell and she lived a healthy life of 22 years.After she was gone 4 years I finally felt like my heart had room dor another dog. The one I have now was a giveaway dog already 4 years old. Apparently she "No longer fit their lifestyle" so bye bye. As it turned out they wanted to raise chickens so....I wanted to call her Finn but out of an old almost forgotten jabit, I kept slipping and calling her Nell. so Nell it is. She is a longhaired mini doxie and the bestis one!

You can't talk to us about getting a Weiner-dog in the future, and then tell us about a "Real Man's car". =) Give me a car that runs on gas, grease, and sweat, and a dog that'll keep the neighborhood kids from getting near the garage at night. Perfect match. I MIGHT consider getting the weiner-dog as a tire chock if my E-Brake ever takes a sh%t. Just an afterthought. Another great Burr reaction and as always, made even better with Staci's killer smile.

The irony of owning a Prius, for the ecology, is they have a carbon footprint several magnitudes larger than my Ford F-150 with a 5.0 liter V-8. I don't know if the engineer/author, of the book, I got this information from, was being literal or figurative when claiming Prius', and other hybrid vehicles, and electrics, had larger carbon footprints, but it doesn't really matter, except maybe for shock value. The way I remember it is if we break down the life cycles of all vehicles into three phases, construction, service life, and decomposition, then in the first and third phases, of their existence, separately, hybrids/electrics have larger carbon footprints than all three phases of large pickup trucks, combined. In the construction phase for these "ecologically friendly" vehicles, they must have five acres of pristine land strip mined, per vehicle, just to achieve the Rare Earth Elements for their engines and brakes. The term Rare Earth Element is a misnomer. The rarest of the Rare Earth Elements, according to this book, has an average crustal capacity greater than 40 times that of gold. The real issue with Rare Earth Elements, is there are no large deposits of them, anywhere, so we must strip mine large tracts of land just to receive a small amount of material. In addition to this, per multi-national treaties, the parts aren't shipped to a central location, for construction, like a normal vehicles, but rather the cars had to be shipped to the parts, so each nation, like China, United States of America, and Canada could claim they were manufactured in their country. In the decomposition phase of a hybrid/electric vehicles, the main culprit, for their large carbon footprint, was the battery, which supposedly had a slightly smaller toxicity level, to the environment, than of a used fuel rod for a nuclear power plant, but I don't think that information is accurate any longer. If I think of it later, which I won't, I'll try to get the name of the book and author from the bibliography of a paper I wrote, several years ago.
@K.dot94 жыл бұрын
Hydrogen fuel cell cars is where its at. We already have gas pipelines running through the country. It would be so much easier to just switch the gas inside the pipeline rather than switch to full electric or hybrid tech.

(Hey I've been through three wives... I can get a bit touchy) But you all are fantastic. That hug you do in the intro just drops my heart (listen to The Bloodhound Gang's "The Lap Dance Is So Much Better When The Stripper Is Crying") But seriously if you ever want to rock out to LA, you don't gotta pay for a hotel.
