We own a mini-goldendoodle male puppy who is the absolute joy in our lives. He is 8 mos. old now and since he was 5 mos. he was taught to sit, lay down, spin, give paw, and stay. He will stay for 5 minutes without any problem. He is loving, fun, smart and our little buddy who also loves to fetch. Friendly to people and children is an understatement. He gets excited for human interaction anywhere, anytime. We've had several breeds over the years and loved them all, but this little guy is one special dude.

I have a standard size Golden doodle named Cooper. I have owned him since 9 weeks old and he is now two. He is the best dog I have ever owned. I do all his grooming and brush his teeth once a week. I took him to dog trains and he is now a therapy dog. We love going to work and he enjoys feeling useful. He eats a high quality 6 fish dog food which he thrives on. Food with grains, beef and or chicken made his skin itchy.Love this pup so much and would not want to be without him in my life. Oh yes and he loves playing ball and frisbee.

My labradoodle is the best dog I've ever had. Smart, very treat motivated, and always full of energy and love. She also has her protective side which probably comes from the poodle in her. She tends to bark and growl if she hears anything suspicious outside, and is very protective of me. I love that. Wouldn't trade her for the world.

We got a goldendoodle because she chose my girls from the start. She was visited twice by my girls and their father and although they were looking at other puppies she was super excited and happy to see my girls and was constantly demanding their attention! Other than the extra fur on her face and slightly wavy hair on her ears and back she is commonly mistaken for a golden retriever and we love her! It was a surprise to us that apparently goldendoodles are "designer" mixes cause we just wanted a puppy to love and one that loved us. So long as she is happy and we keep her healthy I think that is all that matters, not whether or not they are purebred or mixes or how they look. To me they are all cute and deserve love.

The best dogs I have ever had have all been shelter rescue hybrids of unknown breed mixture. All of them have had their pros and cons living on our working farm. Some did better at guarding and patrolling while others did better with herding but none of them cost thousands, none of them came from a breeder and all of them were just as deserving of a loving home even without coming from a breeder. Why are there so many doodle haters on here? Can all you dog snobs tell me how your favorite breed was created? Huh, I guess your favorites just spontaneously appeared on earth? I’m guessing you’ll also try to convince us that there aren’t any bad breeders of your favorite dogs, too. Get over yourselves. Eventually, lab/goldendoodles will be officially recognized as a breed by other snobs. Then you can move on to more important things to complain about.
@BlizzardGhost4 жыл бұрын
They have no breed standards, which is what sets them apart from when breeds are being made. Shiloh Shepherds are a new breed too, but they have a standard that breeders try to hit. Also biggest thing to note is a lot of breeders for doodles do not health test, genetic test, do OFAs and hip exams to ensure quality. They only care about the money, and that's the sad truth.
@hollyandstelladoodle87484 жыл бұрын
LittleDakota I am very aware that they have gotten out of control. There are so many pathetically bad “breeders” out there. However, not all are bad. I have one goldendoodle that was thoroughly tested and came from two highly documented parents. The other one was taken away from a dreadful Amish “breeder” who horribly abused his dogs. One is wonderfully healthy and the other has elbow deformities and food allergies. Just because some of us support doodles does not mean we think they shouldn’t have standards and be regulated. I HATE the greed that drives doodle abuse. I also hate people who get doodles (or any dog) with very little thought and don’t take care of them. Any dog that’s gone through popularity has suffered what is happening to doodles now. Do you hate those dogs, too?
@BlizzardGhost4 жыл бұрын
@@hollyandstelladoodle8748 I don't hate them, but a lot of other breeds weren't abused by popularity and have hit such a low like doodles have. I feel like the media pushes it hard too. And I know people aren't saying they shouldn't have standards, I'm pretty sure everyone wants doodles to do a turn around and become successful and actual breeds. I'm just saying they keep getting tugged back instead of working towards a standard and work on weeding out backyard breeding, just like a lot of other breeds, and going through the same process other breeds went through.
@erikawile77824 жыл бұрын
I so agree with you. Just like with any other dog breed people choose, it is the consumer that sets the standard. If people keep buying from sub standard breeders their will always be a market for them. I made sure and saw both parent of my golden doodle, got his health check papers and lineage, and the breeder had me take him to my own vet to check for any health concerns, such as hip dysplasia, worms, ear infections,etc.

I have a labradoodle. I thought I would be getting a dog that doesn't shed which would turn into LESS work.......and maintenance. And it's true he doesn't shed at all that I can tell....... BUT the work and maintenance is MORE with the coat. That is, it tangles when it's long and if you keep it short that's a lot of work to keep up with too because it grows SO fast and long you wont believe it. ALSO, this dog is MORE energetic than a regular lab which I have experience with. So should you decide to get a doodle, you will have to either have a yard or walk him twice a day at least. This dog NEEDS to run. They love running and jumping. If you can handle these obligations to the dog, you WILL be rewarded with an absolute gem of a personality, disposition, with tons of playfulness and loving and intelligence. These are great dogs. You must mind their hips though. It does seem like a weakness for the breed. My dog was hip certified but still after a hard workout it's the first thing to get tired on my doodle. But I also mean just lounging around with the dog you don't want your kids jumping on the hips or even putting a lot of weight on the hips. Just mind the rear end. These dogs LOVE strangers and other animals. I think my dog's favorite thing in the world is meeting NEW people. He seems to love new people even more than ME!! lol. The biggest learning experience for me with this breed was .....again....... the coat and the level of energy. You can't just let the coat go because it will tangle (at least on fleece)....so upkeep will either cost time or money or both. And the energy level will cost time and or money.... These dogs LOVE kids. I don't know what it is but they just take to smaller humans lol.

Love our Labradoodle. It is important to remember that Doodles are not good for people who don't want to invest time into training their dog. Without training, a doodle's behavior can be really bad, but they are very smart and motivated to learn. My labradoodle has issues with impulse control, especially around birds, but he is improving a lot. But he could play an amazing game of fetch with obedience commands mixed in and a consistent "drop it" by the age of 11 or 12 weeks. He loves food but has an amazing play drive. Once we found out that he was motivated by toys, that was a great tool for his training. If you get a doodle, teach them loose leash walking from the beginning. We let him pull as a puppy, and it's been a hard journey teaching him better leash manners. Also do grooming training with positive reinforcement from puppyhood. It is worth it since they need to be groomed often. Overall, though, our labradoodle is an amazing, fun, cuddly, sweet, and athletic dog.

Yep I don’t recommend f1bs bc they can have more Labrador and might not be hypoallergenic and eat every thing but they might be fine I feel like this breed is becoming more and more popular and soon we might have loads in shelters bc ppl don’t know what their doing I have two labradoodles and I love them to bits but if you do consider buying one please please please do you research

Lydia Wosen start walking with ur dog on the leash and keep changing direction keep your dog guessing usually your they pull bc they know your just going in that direction so they get bored and decide to speed it up if you keep him/her guessing then they will want to stay with you bc you know where to go At least that’s what helped with my dogs 😁

Honestly I think getting a rescue from a shelter or something is so much easier. It’s only $70 tops for all their shots and stuff. They usually are already housebroken, and can be some of the best dogs ever.

I have a labradoodle. The biggest dog I ever had. Cute and playful but after I had him neutered at two yrs old, he started having seizures. Also he is very needy. Thinks he is a lap dog. Loves water.

The bigger the dog, the more they like your lap. 😄 Epilepsy happens in labs. We had a sweet girl develop it when she was almost 2. With medications, she lived to be 8. I’m so sorry you and your pup are going through this. 😞

We got our Labradoodle from a reputable breeder that breeds multi-generational doodles. Our doodle has beauty and brain. They are hypoallergenic but do require grooming at least once a month. The coat needs to be brushed regularly/daily. I think there is a big difference in multi-generational vs. F1 (first generation). They will both be wonderful temperament wise but if you want a more predictable coat and weight, multi-generational is the way to go. An F1 that takes on a Golden/Lab might shed more or be larger than "standard" if you care about this kind of stuff. I had met other doodle parents who had such an attitude towards multi-generational and said F1 and multi are the same (a mutt, which I also disagreed). I just think it's wrong to judge others based on their preference. Like the age-old contention adopt vs. purchase. The fact is I choose to buy my car or purse based on certain criteria why can't we respect others for their choice of pet? I agreed with others there are people who just breed for money. My advice is to get a dog from a reputable breeder or a rescue organization. Don't buy one from swap-meet/Craigslist just because it's cheap.

We have 2 goldendoodles. Mr. Bear and Lilyrose. Bear is 80 lbs. and is 15 years old. Lilyrose is 53 lbs. and is 12 years old. Both have sweet dispositions. Bear likes to bark at everything and nothing. Lilyrose barks at the neighbors and other animals within her sights. We have never doled out set amounts of food to any of our dogs, these 2 included. One bowl is set out all the time for both dogs. They both have cysts on their bodies. Most on their backs. The vet says are harmless. Lilyrose has had ear infections over her lifetime. Bear has only had a couple. The past year Bear has had more problems with his back legs. We have to put him up on our bed and usually help him get down. Lilyrose has been experiencing excessive drinking of water and waking us up several times a night to go out. She then comes back in and drinks lots. We tried putting her water up at night and she cried and bark all night. She was checked at the vet for diabetes but test were negative. They both are afraid of thunder storms. They are loving and affectionate. We can go to the mailbox and they both act like we have been gone for hours. Neither dog liked chasing and retrieving balls and neither liked the pool we got one year. Did i mention we love these dogs so much!! I enjoyed this video but you can eliminate the music. It is annoying. Love from Iowa.

Thanks for the video. Our Schnauzer was our emotional support animal (ESA) and he was attacked by a Rottweiler on Tuesday; he was euthanized on Wednesday. We aren’t ready for another one yet, we will need one in the future; my wife for her anxiety and me for my PTSD from the Marine Corps (15 years) and law enforcement (30 years). I need an ESA for my daily walks and my wife needs one for her weekday walks in the park and to have “purpose” in taking care of something since the kids are all young adults (30 to 41 years old). I’m thinking of a Labradoodle or a Red or Blue Heeler.

Nether one is a "breed" they are mixed breed mutts. Be sure that you know what you are getting into, both are high-energy dogs that take a LOT of grooming. All 3 breeds that go into making these expensive mixed-breed dogs have some major health problems in each breed. The parents really need to have many health-tests done before they are bred. Never buy a puppy under seven (7) weeks of age. Breeders that let their puppies leave for new homes before 7 weeks are simply lazy and only interested in making money. An Eight (8) week old puppy is better than 7 weeks. And 12 weeks is better than 8. Try to avoid bringing a puppy home at 9 weeks of age because this is a fear-stage for puppies.
@lorenadunne41994 жыл бұрын
We have a 7 month old Goldendoodle and she requires very little grooming. Our breeder is also a vet tech and our groomer. She owns the mother and her parents own the father. They are absolutely wonderful dogs. When you have a family with a lot of allergies they are the perfect dog especially when you get an F1B Goldendoodle (75% Standard poodle and 25% Golden Retriever). She does not shed, she has just enough energy for our young family but still loves to cuddle. She is very loyal, as is her mother and she loves to play fetch and soccer which is a perfect fit for our soccer family. You may not be a fan of the breed but that doesn't mean you should trash them and call them "mixed breed mutts"!! And poodles, if you must know, can live VERY long lives. We bought a toy poodle when I was 4 years old and she died 18 years later!!!! Be kind. There are lots of breeds that I would not necessarily want for my family but it doesn't mean they are a bad breed. Until you own one, keep your criticisms to yourself!!
@Pepper-rn4hh4 жыл бұрын
@@lorenadunne4199 Re-read, I did not give criticism to the "breed" I tried to explain some things about the mutts that can be an issue for some people/families. (And by-the-way they ARE mutts & not a breed.) YOU may have gone to a breeder that has exceptional values. But I can testify to the fact that more often than not; breeders of these mutts do NOT take the time or spend the money to do the proper health testing of all of the parent stock. And many of the puppies are sold in a way that is NOT conducive to finding the right homes. We have a "breeder" in our area that makes these puppies and then sets up a pen on the side of the highway selling each puppy to whom ever has the money to take a puppy (impulsive buying) . This does NOT make for the best homes. And that is clearly a man and a woman that has litter after litter for the only reason to make money. Also, I have known and loved many, many mutts. Some mutts make the best pets. I have nothing against mutts, but I do have a problem with ignorant people calling the mutt with a designer-name a "breed". I have a problem with dishonest "breeders" trying to make money off of the backs of puppies and the stud dog and bitch that produce litter after litter to satisfy the greed of a creepy breeder/puppy-mill operation. They give bad names to the excellent hobby-breeders.

I have a standard goldendoodle (F1bb - so he is 7/8'ths poodle) and a registered standard poodle. The poodle is sweeter (which is really saying a lot since the doodle is very sweet), but the doodle is much smarter. The poodle is smart, but more 'trainable'. The doodle is trainable, but easily makes quick decisions on his own. They are great dogs! The cons: grooming can be expensive and they may be too high energy for a lot of people.
