I'm preparing for my O&P and this video shows really well how it's done nicely, thanks!!

Great job! But reality says try that with only one hand through a 3 inch access panel in the blind. Now thats the trick.

Referenced this video as an AMT working at a major airline 😂 someone broke a piece of the turnbuckle clip inside the barrel during removal so I couldn’t use the clip method. Last time I safetied a turnbuckle with lock wire was 7 years ago at A&P school.

I am glad this is useful in real life… I am still at AMT school!

@@727AC you picked a great path! Keep at it! All major airlines are still hiring like crazy so Now is the time!

A very Safe and Efficient method.....But the ends of the locking wire is just sitting there waiting to stick to someone's clothing or tools thus unwinding the loops on the turn buckle or even excessive vibration can start to unwind the loops.
@dominicklotz62422 жыл бұрын
The approved methods all involve wrapping the ends like that. Only other option is turnbuckles that allow a safety clip. They don’t come unwrapped. They are not located were you are snagging them. This has been an approved method damn near forever. Only thing wrong is how annoying it is to do turnbuckles inside an airllane

Am I wrong about about this? do you not have Lock Nuts on the turn buckles as well as Lock Wire?

yes you can turn it but it's there so it doesn't come undone. that's why there is a cable tensioner.

Interesting that they don't make pigtails on these and instead just leave loose ends, never pass mil spec!
@jreynolds219 жыл бұрын
And the need for pigtails on this application is why?
@jojodiver87068 жыл бұрын
+jreynolds21 Because a common inspection method for finding broken strands on a cable is to run a rag along it to snap on the broken strand. If there is no pigtail, the rag can undo the whole wrap. And on military aircraft, this is unacceptable.
