I would love to see Katie’s puzz3d collection. I have a closet full myself, including the DRAGONFLY lamp, grandfather clock, and a church that lights up with stained glass windows. I found this video really interesting. As a bit of a math nerd myself, I’m really glad you guys included the flat sheet portion. It was really neat to see how they designed the dome by flattening it out, but also they clearly optimized to not have wasted foam. I loved the way the triangle pieces for the top of the dome appeared randomly between the circles for the base. Also, you could see how the red dot pieces have the same “teeth” on both sides, but the angle is slightly different to facilitate the curve of the dome. My sister was always a huge fan of dragonflies, and my mom once made a lamp in this style as a glass mosaic, with the help of my step dad who did the ironwork. Loved the video, loved the puzzle, loved the lamp!

I agree with Katie's reason for liking 3D puzzles. I did some woodworking and carpentry for a few years and love building things. I was Kind of surprised that there is someone, who is able to "beat" Karen, but since it is the older sister, it seems to be genetic. The lamp was really beautiful by night, and like other says, i liked especially the dragonflys of this lamp. I hope for more sister vs sister challenges. Or maybe you two challenge against another couple. Since bouth of you have an own style of puzzling, see you working on same puzzle might be interesting. Like "family puzzeling" :D

I’ve done a handful of 3D puzzles, but the only one I know is from the Puzz3D brand is the Neuschwanstein Castle Puzzle. It was a family tradition at my Grandmother’s where after Thanksgiving dinner, she would pull the puzzle out and have the entire family work on it. Once done, we would decorate it with cotton (snow), little people figurines, and a Santa-mobile. It would be a Christmas decoration until New Years, where she would take it completely apart and put it away. You can actually see the puzzle at 11:39 in the far corner of the room.

It actually looks so cool in dark, the effect it gives is stunning, but I wish you could see more of the design like this, by having some places here and there that would glow in the dark, maybe like the dragonfly's wings on those light spots, some of the bigger and smaller circles around the lamp, that would be just an absolute win! And also, I'm pretty sure you could find a way to insert in it maybe a little more solid light in there, just so it gives more light and you know, won't break after 10 minutes :D!

I've never done a Puzz3D (although I recently made a quilt of dragonfly fabric). I have done several off the Ravensberger 3=D puzzles. The Eiffel Tower, 3 large spheres, & a small, ornament size sphere. I really enjoy those. The edges of the pieces are beveled, so they really do make a smooth finished surface (and there are no little red dot pieces). I would LOVE to see Katy's puzzle collect (and her spreadsheet - I LOVE a good spreadsheet). I love to puzzle with my big sister too. We like the same kinds of puzzles. She's an edge-first person. I'm a dive-in-the-middle person. We both love colors, so our sorting is pretty compatible.

The grandfather clock also was very intriguing. My dad built a grandfather clock before I was born, and it has always had a place of honor in my parents’ house. I’ve always thought it was so beautiful, but I’m not talented enough to in woodworking to make one myself. A puzzle one might be just the right level of difficulty!
