I like the observation that Instagram makeup looks good frozen. I totally agree since the amount of product on the face looks odd up close and moving. I am so glad you did not do a cut crease. All day on almost all Instagram I see cut crease. Love the video idea :)

Yes I am very sure that it only looks good on camera for real life it's just too much product. I can't imagine using so much concealer (plus foundation, contouring, powder to matting and than highlighter to make it shiney again) without feeling like concrete on my face.

Yes insragram has made this style popular but it is VERY much drag makeup. That's why there's so many full coverage and heavy contour in this style, you're legit making an illusion of being a hyper female, and to do that to as a male you need this heavy makeup/contour. It was never really meant for female faces/shapes since they already look female. It's kinda funny watching these techniques made for a square face on an already rounded face becoming popular

I truly believe anthropologists and philosophers should pay more attention to this cultural stream of male expressing on their own skin (outter appareance) their canon or ruling of what femininity should look like. Males that appropiate femininity and redefine it. And how sadly women accept to be redefined by others (by somehow their opposite) and submit themselves to that new rule with no disagreement. 2019, submission is the new sexy.

true except drag makeup isnt supposed to make a man look actually feminine - they use a lot of sharp edges and straight lines, making a feminine, round face look bonier and more masculine, which is what the Instagram look does as a consequence. AND it makes everyone look exactly the same haha

la fan de nuel damn... makes me think about how the only popular beauty gurus are male. Every girl in my class can list all the male beauty gurus but maybe one or two female ones. I think it's great to give men a space, especially gay men, a space in makeup which is traditionally straight female dominated. But when you look at it from gender only and not sexuality men own the makeup companies and now, even though there's only a small amount of male influencers, they've already taken the largest share of the influencer space. I just find it weird. Girls in my school who use makeup only regularly watch/stan male youtubers. They'll watch a female mua if they come across a product review that they need but they won't consistently watch/"stan" very many of them. Unfortunately I realised I do the same thing so I've become more open minded to female influencers.

Can I just say that I love how forward you are with your videos? There is no unnecessary intro in which you talk as fast as Eminem in Rap God. There are also no silly catch phrases you use over and over again. You don't need all that stuff to make your content enjoyable. This is a very generalized statement but I feel like you have more personality than most of these obnoxious influencers. Influencers always brag about "being like you and me!" while they're flaunting their new Tesla and Gucci clothes (btw, theres nothing wrong with showing off what you've worked for) but when watching your videos, it feels like my bigger sister teaches me some of the best make up and fashion tricks, so that I can find my own style and overall train my eyes and brain to see things, I've never seen before. (and I'm an only child, haha) Long story short: thanks for being so real and teaching us some valuable things. It's truly a breath of fresh air.

Div Iskandariak I had super thick brows in 2004. I grew them out and they looked nice, I really liked them. No one laughed at me, at least not to my face. I seen a girl in a magazine with thick brows and decided in 2003 to grow them out. Haven’t had thin brows since.

And being a somewhat average consumer, I guess my behaviour can be translated on what the majority of people are tending to. I personally like IG makeup. I like the experimentation of it and (how Aly said) how it's looks phenomenal 'frozen'. I even take bits and pieces and incorporate them into my own makeup because I like the look of it. That being said: I get why people don't, and why they rail against it so hard (especially as a "standard of beauty). It's not for everyone, so it shouldn't be *_forced_* onto everyone.

I love love the brow bone highlighter! They have put it there in this or that way since forever, since the art of make up was invented probavly. It makes your brows look higher, it makes your look more hypnotizing, more mesmerizing, glamorous... A lot of people put something under the brow and lift brows in some way...

Wow you are absolutely incredible with makeup. It turned out totally professional and you look stunning. It's worrying though how much makeup there is and how complex the techniques are.. I mean I could not be bothered. Its literally just foundation, shadow mascara and some nose contour for me I can do in 15 minutes. But this type of makeup would take me about 2 hours to do.

I always loved your makeup videos of the past. I would hate to have your talent ruined like the makeup videos that are out today. They are just selling products, like makeup brushes and every eyeshadow palette out there. In your videos it goes to show you that you can use almost any brush for several areas on the face.
