These types of goggles are so cool because they can simulate a lot of effects that you would not think just a change in vision that's entirely outside of your brain could do. Like when Cristine said that she wants to crouch and be close to the ground and hold onto things for guidance, if someone did that on drugs you wouldn't think "It's because they can't see well any more." Obviously, there are other influences if you're actually intoxicated, but it's cool how much everything in our bodies works together nonetheless, even speech can be affected by these because of confusion etc.

As someone with a pretty severe astigmatism that doesn't seem to get fully corrected by their glasses, that description of the "light trails" is just how I see lights normally. Its awful when in a car in the evening because its so hard to see anything for all the lines coming off headlights, even though its still bright enough to see stuff if there weren't headlights coming towards you. That's just one reason I'm never learning to drive. It's bad enough from the passenger side trying to look more left to avoid it. Can't do that if sat on the right hand side driving. Have to look straight ahead.

I don't have astigmatism, but I wear glasses and I am sort of nightblind. When it rains and in the dark, I am a danger on my bike, still I do it. Although less than I did when I was younger. I see a lot of light trails in the dark already, but when it rains it is terrible. I know what you mean, I don't drive and never learned it, bc I know it would be dangerous.

this THIS is why i don't wanna drive either its not that im scared of cars i'm scared to be driving with other idiots on the road who can't drive or just not careful i'm a bad driver as it is and being blind/nightblind doesnt help my case in making it easier to do so and i get shamed by my parents for it constantly

I’ve learned that glasses with an anti glare help HEAVILY compared to those that don’t have them when it comes to astigmatisms Obviously still can’t see due to the lines but the lines aren’t blinding

the vertigo effect of drunk goggles was how i discovered that constantly having vertigo isn’t normal as a kid some DARE police officers came to my summer camp with drunk goggles and it mainly made your vision be uneven to give the room-spinning effect. i have a condition called postura orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and when i stand up i get very dizzy, my vision goes black, and i can faint. my blood vessels don’t constrict when i stand so i don’t get enough blood flow to my brain. (like today i was organizing medicine bottles at the pharmacy i work at and was bending over for a bit. i stood back up straight, got hella dizzy, and crashed into a shelf) anyway so we did the control test with no goggles. i got up from sitting down and had to walk in a line and i was very very dizzy but it seemed normal to everyone else bc i’m used to counteracting it to walk straight. (since my vision usually goes black while i’m dizzy, i can walk normally in with my eyes closed too. as long as i’ve at least seen the environment is in, like the pathway to where i need to go, even if it’s a new environment with obstacles i just have to have seen it at some point like before i stood up. it’s a weird skill i’ve picked up) and when i put on the drunk goggles it was basically the same. it just felt like i had stood up from sitting down too fast. so i could walk in a straight line, the only noticeable issue was that my depth perception wasn’t great (but i also didn’t have my glasses on so idk if it was the drunk goggles, lack of glass, or both). anyway the officer was sorta surprised but i was like “oh i can just kinda feel where my body’s supposed to be.” ig that was my 8-year-old brain trying to explain the second-nature autocorrecting for vertigo. the other kids were Struggling so i found it really funny lmao

LSD (acid) is very different from molly, so I'm not convinced the people who make these goggles know what their categories are, but still a very fun video

@@Intazma in the description she showed and read, the seller had several different ones. The one she bought had a description about simulating "LSD, ecstasy, and Molly". I would think that YT would be more upset about naming specific drugs, rather than just saying the word drug.

i break a nail just looking at my hand i swear, i dont know how she manages to keep her nails long without anything breaking.... mine dont even get that long and ive tried everything. i guess some are just blessed with strong nails!

i know you said that you’ve tried everything, but i’ve recently heard of tips that I’d never heard before and thought that they might be useful !! one is keeping the edges of your nails round if you have more fragile nails. square edges seem to make fragile nails more susceptible to breaking so try an almond nail or something like that !! i’ve also heard of rubber bases, and painting with intention (so like focusing the polish on a spot that’s going to be really supportive of the whole nail. ) @/nailmartusa is where i found these tips ! as a side note, i would be really really careful with doing any of this at home. rubber base is a gel polish and if not cured/used properly, it’s possible for you to make yourself allergic to acrylates which is really sucky because some medical/dental procedures use them !! i’m not a pro but there’s been talk of that sort of thing so just wanted to mention it in case you’re interested !! this definitely isn’t always the case and i don’t know you so i don’t know if you already knew this/are licensed to use gel but i didn’t feel comfortable talking about it without letting you know to be safe 😅

Our local RCMP held a bicycle safety event and had these goggles for people to try. They would run the wearers through a typical roadside sobriety test. My boys (around 8-10 at the time) aced the tests and were unimpressed... Wtf, should I be concerned?

Actually, maybe you shouldn't be concerned. They are young and because of that, they still have a good handle on adapting their brains to new situations (a lot of neuroplasticity) and some of these effects (like Cristine feeling like things were farther away) might be reduced because their bodies are closer to the ground/their limbs are closer to their torso to begin with. It could also be that when you're younger, you trust your eyes less because you're constantly growing so rely more on your bodily senses (formally known as proprioception). This is so interesting that they aced the tests, so thanks for giving me the chance to nerd out!
