Cracked over multichrome is EVERYTHING. Damn, that looks so good! Also, as someone who had quite a few Lisa Frank folders/binders the cracked over the Retro collection is amazing!

I did a green to black gradient (Green Screen ➡️ OCB) and did crackle on top and it was sooo subtle but soooo spooky I loved it

The neon jelly Lisa Frank nails also reminded me of two things: the fuzzy felt coloring pages that are black and you color the blank areas, or those scratch off art that are black on top and you scratch off. I know you did the scratch off nails. Wanna try flocked coloring page nails? lol

I got mine in the mail today! Put cracked on over Spirit Fingers that I already had on. So cool! All you see through the cracks is the color of the shimmer. Love it!

I absolutely love crackle and I don't care what's in style or not I wear what I like. I still have some old crackle but I will buy a new one next time I make a HT order. I have black and silver from the olden times. A few years ago I started doing swatch sticks and learned that it doesn't work by itself over the plastic which I found interesting.

I have mine from the early days. Managed to revive it with nail polish thinner & it works better than it ever did now which is cool. Not bad for £3.99 for an 11ml bottle nearly 20 years ago lol.

I've still got my first polish from back when the first "trend" for crackle polish happened. It dried up very quickly but I kept it for some reason. Anyway earlier this year I thought I'd try adding some nail polish thinner to it on the off chance it would fix it, but it didn't seem to do anything, so I just left it. Opened it up the other day when transferring my polishes to my new nail polish drawer unit & it is back to working all nice and smooth again! Now I'm kinda gutted that I didn't keep the sliver and gold metallic crackle polishes I also had as I could've saved those too. I preferred them over the black anyway.

I want more colors in crackle.. and then I might say yes. Black is just weird to me even though its the most common! I want it to be backwards to the current state. The black on top looks too much to me, while what ever is underneath should be the black part.

I had it in black, silver, gold (both metallic) & white. Then later was gifted a sparkly glitter green one which didn't work well as the glitter was too patchy. The white was awful looked like nail fungus! But the silver & gold were great! Need to try some nail polish thinner in the gold one. I just remembered where it might have been hiding & found it! I managed to rejuvenate my black one from like 2006 so should be able to get the gold working again too. Its times like these hoarding pays off. It was £3.99 per 11ml bottle well spent if they can still work nearly 20 yrs later!

I was an early teen last time they were in fashion so I definitely didn't have the best nail polishing skills, but I remember them being pretty bulky? Like either they'd be super bumpy because of the cracks or you'd need a really thick topcoat (or several layers of topcoat) to smooth it out.

I was never able to get crackle polish to work for me, but maybe that was because I was using Sally Hansen's nonsense. The only thing I ever really liked from Sally Hansen was their nail polish sticker thingies, and those were discontinued years ago. And even still, I find myself buying their products bc they're cheap and I forget how awful they are xD OPI and Holo Taco need to be my go-tos, even if they're pricier!! You most certainly get what you pay for!!

Add some nail polish thinner to it (butyl acetate & ethyl acetate only version) and just leave it to soak its way in for a while. It didn't work immediately like with a regular polish, in fact I thought it didn't work when I tried it. But I was moving my polish to my new drawer unit & found that its now back to being really liquidy & works better than it did originally. I don't know exactly how long it took as I left it months before remembering to look at it again but it does work so...

In my experience from the early days, you can't really do multiple layers of the crackle. It needs the smooth surface to pull itself apart over. When you try to apply on top it just fills in the cracks & can't split apart so just looks like you did a very shitty job applying a regular polish.

I would recommend F.U.N Lacquer for gel polishes. Cristine used to recommend them a lot before she had her own brand. They have great regular polishes, but also do gel polish versions of most collections. Or rather the other way around since this year's anniversary collection is only gel polishes. Lots of awesome effects. I doubt Holo Taco will do gel polish simply because the factory they work with doesn't make gel polish for any of the brands they produce polishes for. But F.U.N. Lacquer have lots of holo, shimmer, magnetics, flash reactives etc. So you can at least get some nice stuff there.
