She initially came across as being knowledgable and well informed, but that went out the window when she started talking. No contract? She should have insisted, or stopped right there. And why would she (or the defendant) think it it would be best for her to buy the materials? So much room for error!
@Fribee836 ай бұрын
There was a huge shake-up in the contracting world at the start of the pandemic. A lot of the older contractors who were making big money weren't retiring prior to the pandemic which meant there was a blockage in advancement so if you were an apprentice, you'd continue to be one for years it there were fewer positions available and the market was crowded. Once covid happened, a lot of the older people who were making the money retired but the people under them didn't have the proper experience on running a business and the people under them didn't have experience as a foreman, and the people under them-you get the idea. So suddenly the whole industry was suddenly shifting up and since people were spending more time in their homes due to lockdowns which had people wanting to renovate and improve their living spaces with paint, flooring, cabinets, etc. That meant a lot of new contractors and construction workers were starting their business but without any of the experience they should have in a market flooded that they could charge high prices. It's why the defendant didn't have a contract or know the basics about running the business on credit; he just knew how to do the labor. It's kind of a fascinating study in labor.
@JB.24146 ай бұрын
Damn that’s a good point I wouldn’t have thought of it that way

I took a contractor's accounting class in college that was given by a former contractor. He said the hard and fast rule about money 🤑 is that you, the contractor, take a third of the money up front for supplies and maybe some early wages; another third at the halfway point; the final third + any cost overruns (providing you don't renegotiate as you go along) when it's finished. I'm really shocked that more of them don't follow that simple and effective "rule."

If she could prove that the boston terrier was misrepresented to be a more expensive breed... or that she got a crossbred when she wanted a purebred and they misrepresented... she could get her money back BUT she'd also have to return the puppy to the breeder. She would have to have some kind of proof other than a vet's say so, as that's just an opinion, not solid proof. When buying a puppy, always ask to see the parents of the puppy so you have a better idea of what it will look like when it grows up! If you want a purebred, do your research on the breeder. Bottom line is... puppies are wonderful even when they aren't purebreds. $100 is a bargain for a puppy!
