I've been a scorekeeper for 40 years. The way to learn is to know you leagues rule book inside out. Watch lots of games on TV. You will learn the difference between a hit, error, misplay, earned runs, unearned runs,etc. The object is to award good play and punish bad play and to keep the stats integrity giving the league a fair representation of what actually happened on the field.
