Missed opportunity to reveal a Dark Magician Girl card when talking about getting a girlfriend at the end.
@yubelious55843 жыл бұрын
Canonically, Meanae the Thorn was a girlfriend. There aren't very many officially confirmed romances in the card game. But that was definitely one of them. She was in with Zaloog. DMG on the other hand was actually an apprentice about a decade younger than her late master. So... uh, yeah. That would have been awkward. Not really girlfriend material. Kinda like... what older master has a younger apprentice of the opposite gender... OH! General Skywalker and his apprentice Commander Tano. It would be odd seeing those two in a relationship with each other for many reasons I won't bother discussing here. Likewise, Mahad was 22 at his time of death, while Mana, who was only 13 around that time, likely survived for some time after. I'm pretty sure there was no twinkle in his eyes whenever he peaked at her from behind her back. Unless you're on rule 34, in which case to hell with the canon!

@@gasmeister467 If you mean the part where he shuffles the aces and then deals them to himself I think it starts by some false cutting (kinda like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/haLWlGieht9mrK8 ) and because the aces are sticking out it's easy to just grab those 4 as part of the false cuts and get them on the top. Then to stack the deck so he gets every 5th card there's a couple ways he might be doing it. It could be when he is false cutting (similar concept as this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIqxnmeLhtGUldU ), and then when he shuffles he makes sure the top pack doesnt get out of order. Or what i think is more likely is he stacks them when he shuffles, let's say the 4 aces are at the top the left stack so when he shuffles and gets to the top he lets one of the aces from the left stack down and then three from the right and then another ace from the left etc (like this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/oma2epR6pqqlnsk ). This is all just guesses I'm not experienced at all with sleight of hand and card manipulation.

You're quickly becoming my favorite channel!. One thing I'd love for you to cover is how to spot dirty shuffling in Magic: The Gathering. Essentially some players will shuffle their deck so that there's an even distribution of "lands" and "non-land" cards. And if you do it properly, when the opponent does 1 or 2 riffle shuffles and a cut, you still have that good distribution.
@DanielRoyMagic2 жыл бұрын
That's a fascinating way of cheating -- could you tell me a bit more about the "dirty" shuffle? Any videos of people doing it?
@SurferFlash2 жыл бұрын
@@DanielRoyMagic I'll take a look around the web to see how it's done. I'm by no means an expert in cards or card shuffling but I do play a lot of Magic. The premise behind it is that your deck is 60 cards with (on average), 20 lands and 40 non-lands. So in a perfect shuffle you will have NL NL L, NL NL L, NL NL L, etc. This (I guess) is a form of stacking the deck such that you always draw the proper ratio of Lands and Non-lands. It used to be allowed openly, and I believe the terminology is called "Pile Shuffling" or "Weaving". The beginner version of this is separating the lands and nonlands, then stacking the deck as listed above. The more advanced version I've seen in tournaments is putting the cards into 6 piles and then combining them. If you search "Mana Weaving" you'll find some context. "Mana Weaving" is technically legal as long as the deck is thoroughly shuffled afterwards. The deck is then passed to the opponent who generally performs 1 or 2 riffle shuffles and a cut. What I'd love to see is: 1.Can you perform "Mana Weaving" without the observer noticing. 2. Assuming it doesn't matter if the observer notices you "Mana Weave"; Can you shuffle the deck in such a way that the layers of lands and non-lands are not disrupted. 3. Assuming you pass your deck to an opponent, and you have successfully cheated by "Mana Weaving". How many riffle shuffles (I believe it's called faro shuffle?) and cuts are needed to disrupt it

As a tcg player who saw the curling on some of your foils, I've got to ask: did the curling of the foils make the sleight of hand easier or harder?
@Kugrox3 жыл бұрын
Interesting question. But I think at this stage, for him, its all equally easy. I would think it would be harder initially, because with yugioh cards they are much thicker, especially the foil cards, making it way more dificult to practice magic tricks. But once you get a feel for the weight and thickness of yugioh cards, the foil just makes it easier to pick the cards, but really, he's doing it so quickly, that i think it just becomes more about memory and insane reflexes. Now, if he had like, say, 5 pieces of foil exodia, and the rest were all commons. That would obviously make it easier. But if he ran a deck of all foils or all commons, now you're talking even playing field. Kinda makes you wonder why yugioh takes itself so seriously when its so obviously easy to rig your deck. Hell, right in the actual yugioh anime, Mai sprayed her cards with different scents so she knew what she'd draw before she drew it (which, is nice but, doesnt really help when you still had to draw the top card anyway lol) and Espa Roza used a person to scout out the enemies hand and radio it to him. And then Pegasus outright read his opponents mind with magic. Bandit Keith held cards up his wrist. The show was full of fucking cheaters lmao. So really, this dude would fit in as a Yugioh antagonist rofl

@@Kugrox >(which, is nice but, doesnt really help when you still had to draw the top card anyway lol) Not familiar with Yugioh too much, but there were similar effects in Magic that went completely ignored for ages until someone realized that if you completely scrapped normal gameplay design and just went all-in on seeing the tops of each deck and the ability to selectively "mill cards" (change the top card for one or both players) then like 90% of decks simply couldn't kill you with their opening hand as they'd ever draw anything useful (while you would effectively get a 3-5 card choice on each draw) over the next 20-30 turns it took you to deck them. I dunno if Yugioh has a way to exploit it, just saying it's at least possible?

Well, it looks like I'm not the only one who came here after being linked through Yugioh. Roy, can I suggest a particularly difficult Yugioh magic trick idea? in most TCGs there is a term called "Brick", which refers to a card that is better in the deck than in your hand (it either has an effect that only activates in the deck or it's only in your deck so that it can be used for the effect of another card that has an effect that can pull it from the deck). Bricks are often Normal monsters in Yugioh, meaning they have no special ability and have a lighter border than the other monster cards. (such as Blue Eyes White Dragon). These days, nobody uses a normal monster unless it's for a specific deck or because it's a brick. Most people outside of the competitive scene tend to make use of a very consistent and cheap combo involving a card called "Red Eyes Fusion", which is a spell card that is a brick, along with two more bricks in the form of Red Eyes Black Dragon and Dark Magician. Could you make a deck with a mix of effect monster and spell cards much like a typical deck, but only two Normal monsters and one specific spell card of your choice, and then after seeing the cards spread out once, shuffle the deck so that when someone else draws the top five cards of their deck, both normal monsters and that one specific spell card ends up in their hand? I’ll do you one better. In the fourth installment of Yugioh, Yugioh Zexal, several characters had access to powers that allowed them to not only pick the cards they draw, but outright create new cards or transform preexisting cards in the hand. Shining Draw allowed protagonist Yuma to draw the perfect card from his deck or create Zexal Weapon Monsters, whose effects were tailor made to deal with the situation at the time of drawing the card. Shining Evolution allowed Yuma to transform a card already in his hand to something else. This was infamously used exactly once in the show to transform Rank-Up-Magic Limited Barian’s Force to Rank-Up-Magic Numeron Force.

A few little tricks I do is being able to "unshuffle" a deck normally done with a birds of a feather stick together story joke. It would be nice if you do a video on haw to throw off and recognize players using slide of hand in card games for example how to cut/shuffle a deck to make it difficult or impossible for them to stack a deck... Example... in Magic the Gathering torments your opponent will cut your deck after a shuffle but many players will not square up the cards after a cut. When the game starts a lot of players will pick up and hold the top half of a deck to draw there hand allowing them to bottom deal the cards from the center of the deck in there 1st hand. I tend to watch a lot of videos to help me recognize them and try to come up with my own tricks to prevent it.

My suggestion would be for the game Magic: The Gathering, involving a card named Mind's Desire. It's a card that makes you shuffle your deck (or library, as the game calls it), reveal the top card, and play it for free. It also has the quality that you basically get another copy of it for each other card you've played previously, so if you played three things you'd then be able to shuffle and get a free thing four times (the original plus three copies). Despite requiring the shuffle, it's actually banned in one format and restricted to one copy in another, so it could be amusing to show off why it would be banned! A few other cards that could lead to impressive tricks would be Demonic Consultation and Stomping Slabs, which would require interesting deck manipulation to use consistently, especially Stomping Slabs, if that would even be possible.

It's great that you point out that your opponent shuffles your deck in an official duel (as in like in tournaments and such), but that just brings me to my point, the next level should be sleight of hand to make it so that your opponent wins in such a way that they get accused of cheating instead of you

This makes me want to see an entire tournament of current era competitive Yu-Gi-Oh played but only card magicians are allowed to enter. If a judge can spot your cheat, you're out of course. But at the same time, you still need to be able to know enough of what everything does to know how stacking your own deck and your opponent's can do, and not let yourself get put in a situation where even being able to draw any card of your choice or manipulate what you have on the field still can't get you out of a jam.

I clicked because I saw Yugioh and Magic Trick together in the video title. I now want more. Thankfully there is Plenty of material to work with thanks to the series existing for as long as it has (still going strong today might I add)... though you may not have all the cards necessary to go through all of them. Some cards to work with if you go back to Yugioh for some more of this would be as follows: The Wicked Gods (from the DM Manga) The Sacred Beasts (from the GX anime) The Legendary Planets (from the GX Manga) The Signer Dragons, Earthbound Immortals, and the Mecklord Emperors (from the 5Ds anime) The Duel Dragons (from the 5Ds manga) ALL the number monsters (from the Zexal anime AND manga... this is a big one, there are over 100 of them, and that is not counting the evolved forms) The 4 Dimension Dragons (from the Arc-V anime) ....... and I think that is all the ones that had empathies on the cards themselves being special. And that Arc-V one was a stretch... and nothing from Vrains or Sevens? Well, they have been phasing out the mystical elements of the show since mid-way through 5Ds. Ehh, you could probably do some more themes based off of the duelists or other things that the cards can represent.
