it's amazing how you can give us SUCH GOOD CONTENT, so often, by yourself, while having a full-time job!!! it truly is inspiring to see you doing so many different things and doing each of them well! KUDOS TO YOU XD

The lack of sponsorships on your channel is something I really appreciate and respect as a viewer 💛 I definitely don’t mind them from others (like u said get ur coin lol) but it just feels refreshing in the age of influencer to come here and know I won’t have to watch more ads (besides the ones Yt serves). For people who do have sponsorships I always appreciate when they put them at the end or have time stamps that make it easily skipable, but I’m sure stuff like that depends on what the requirements allow too. This was an insightful tag!

I love, "its a deep character flaw.." I totally get it. I love giving solicited and unsolicited advice...but only when I have strong opinions on a thing...seriously though. Great tag..this was a great window into your world. Its impressive that you have the mind space to sit and write when you have so much else going in in your world. Great video

I definitely relate to your reasoning behind staying part time and keeping that content freedom. I will say, I love your content so I'm glad you keep filming what you want!

Your channel deserves more subscribers tbh. You're my favorite authortube because of your advice and undisclosed opinions especially on publishing

Maybe I'm weird, but I don't mind sponsorships when I watch a video at all -- there's always fast forward! Love this tag!

Look, when Paula's Choice comes calling, I'll fully support you getting that coin. (I was surprised nothing in the gift guide was sponsored tbh. Not counting the gifted planners. That's a perfect, easy spot for an integration.) I'm always so impressed by all the irons you have in the fire. Idk how you handle it, but I'm so happy you do!

Super interesting to hear your perspective on! I know where you're coming from with the health insurance... I'm a freelance writer and private health insurance is SO expensive.

Thanks for sharing, it was interesting to learn about your journey, schedules, and plans :) I currently have a full time job, and do KZbin in my free time, sharing my art journey, journaling and want to start sharing my writing journey as well, as I do draw my characters from my books as well and am planning to incorporate that into my channel as well :)

Oh gosh . Alexa you said you are not going to hire someone for KZbin but if, IF, someday you choose to I'm gonna apply for it. Idk whatever the post will be I'll apply 😂 as someone who write bookish content and strategy I will be all for it.

Health insurance is ALWAYS the one thing that sucks me back into reality about why I likely will never write full time. Dude. Even with health insurance; I've spent 6k this year on health shit. I work for a school. State insurance for civil servants such so hard.

Hey Alexa! I have a question! How do you stick with a project? I’ve heard people say to make an outline and use that as motivation but I can’t write an outline without getting bored of the story, so I was just wondering what you do?
@jessip86542 жыл бұрын
I'm not Alexa but I have finished several books. There isn't really a secret trick besides sitting down and working (almost) every day. Even when I was bored by my own story. Even when I thought I was writing pure garbage (And often it wasn't so garbage when I re-read it later). I just kept going bit-by-bit and eventually had a whole-ass book. It's like going to work or school, you just... keep going even when you don't feel like it.

I have lots of videos that might help--on my writing process, vlogs of various drafting processes, some Q&As, but the shortish version is: 1) I pick projects that have a lot of "steam"--high conflict/stakes potential and lots of paths to go down. I'm really excited by projects with lots of conflict. I have to be really excited before I start 2) I have my third act set piece in mind and it's something I'm excited to write--a big party scene, a confrontation in a wild place, etc. I know I'm writing toward it and I want to get there 3) Beyond that 3rd act set piece, there's a main "cookie"/conflict/emotional thread/arc I'm excited to write--whether that's a juicy romance, or a twisty mystery, and I jot down LOTS of ideas anchored in tropes/archetypes I enjoy 4) I track my writing progress visually and with small, attainable goals. I use planners and star stickers and do my best to write every day. 5) when I'm lucky, I have a "cheerleader WIP beta" who reads as I write--but you don't always have this 6) I beat out what I'm going to write section by section--not quite outlining, but closeish. I bullet point things that need to happen or questions that need to be answered, to give myself an idea of what's in my "headlights" for the next few days of writing. It helps me feel less lost as I go and push through sections. Works for me personally! And then sometimes I just take breaks! Sometimes the story needs extra rumination time.

Hey, Alexa, I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and have come to love the content. Here’s a food for thought question: Would be possible to hire someone to help you edit your videos so you have more time for other things?

The sponsorship part reminds me of Peter Mckinnon's videos...
