This works better for me than just a pin and clip or a bolt and nut.

This is great. Listening to you explain things in such a simple and thorough way (3/4 wrench doesn't mean it is a 3/4 bolt) leads me to believe you have tried to explain simple things to the simple minded several times in your life.

How convenient I found this, was about to walk outside and do this exact same thing to my tractor when this video came up. Several neck surgeries and a bad back dictate I find solutions rather than getting under a tractor just to hookup my trailer and spreader. Only problem, is that metal lip till not hold much tongue loading, hence the reason for this big sledge hammer in my hand.

I know this video is 7 years old, Well it's okay, but for the cost of the bolt and ease of use .You could buy a Magnetic Hitch Pin they come with a safety clip but I've never used the extra clip and Never lost trailer / or any attachment from my mower.

My channel is all about doing it cheap. I buy nuts and bolts by the pound at tractor supply. There is not a thing wrong with your idea. Now subscribe !!! LOL !

For my personal use, I will drill a hole and use a hairclip, but for the video..... gotta do it cheap and easy !!

Bob, if there are any railroad crossings near you and you can safely walk a few yards on either side of or t, sometimes I find gigantic washers laying around among the rocks. I tend to collect giant nuts, bolts and washers. I work for a utility and just walking around the parking lot and I find all kinds of big assed galvanized and weather resistant fasteners that had fallen off of bucket trucks and other vehicles that are returning scrap and this stuff is either thrown out or recycled. We called them hair clips "cotter pins".

Bob you can pick up a trailer coupler at WalMart and bolt or weld it to the trailer also and just use a trailer ball on the cub cadet. I also put a coupler on my log splitter because it had just a hole for a pin. I think I have the same tractor as you mine is a LTX1050 I hate it Keep them coming Bob and good luck on the stop smoking I have been trying also it hard to do.

Thanks paw paw. Some of the easiest things are the hardest to figure out. What comes easy to one person is difficult for another. I've scratched my head for an hour trying to figure something out only to have my 17yr old come by and say dad just do this it's easy. Sure enough I'd like to have kick myself in the ass for not thinking of it myself. So I just kicked him in the ass instead for making me feel stupid . LOL!!

The clip would also be much safer if I did that I know the nut would come off while I was riding with the top down.

LOL !!! Only comes off with the top down, windows open, and air conditioning on !! I probably don't tow the trailer more than 500 yards, so it isn't a concern for me at this time. But it is awkward for me to do much fabricating when I have stuff strewn over two farms and three garages !! LOL !! ONE of these days I will be organized......probably when they put my stuff in rows to sell at my estate auction !!

A lock nut would work too if you can not drill out the bolt.
