I think that is the biggest issue with selecting a Hariwaka, it can take a very long time to find a very good One. I have seen many of them online but the issues are the same as the issues shown in this video. Thankyou very much for producing another good video, I really appreciate it very much. Beautiful variety...just curious...why are most Grand Champions Kohaku, Sanke or Showa, in that order? Does it have to do with the old adage that" It always comes back to Kohaku"? Personally Im a big fan of the Shiro Utsuri and Goshiki varieties. ..

Hi there, indeed since history as far as I know every year over and over again the Grand Champion title goes to a Kohaku, Sanke or a Showa. The 'big three' in the Koi scene. The body of these three is oftenly bigger and better compared to for example Goshiki, Kujaku and so on. These three have a way more powerful look due to their body posture. And body posture plays a key role there, that will most like be the reason why other varieties do not win.

Can the Orange be reversed with supliments like the red and White? Or is it definitive and unreversable?

No I don't think that would be possible. Perhaps when you tweak with water conditions (softer water), but I am not sure.

I have a blue (sushui?) Haven't been able to find any info on these. Is it just a color play off a variety like this?

@@Aboutkoi it surely does especially the head with the grey color and flanks are a Blue few scales along the top. It's also the most energetic of the lot zipping around usually..

No there is no difference. Parasites are in the slime, not on the scales :)

Hi there. There are not really different varieties of Hariwake. Just Hariwake (scaled) and the Doitsu Hariwake (scaleless). This video is probably your friend if you want to know more about Hariwake 😉

The Lemon Hariwake stays yellow right? Also, what price should a koi keeper expect to spend for this size? Is it acceptable to expect $75 usd?

It can still become orange, that's the difficulty with this variety. A normal price in Europe for this size would be about 25-50 dollar in my opinion. However, some koi keepers tend to scale their prices up in the hope someone will pay for it 😉

My favourite variety i have 2 at 35 cm both are yellow not orange.
