I have had my LK5 Pro for about a year. Soon after getting it I printed and installed the same fan setup you have and my prints have turned out great. I have used PLA, PLA+, Performance PLA, PETG with great success and plan to print some toys for me and my kids with a roll of TPU I purchased soon. Over the year I have changed out nozzles, Bowden tubes and Bowden tube fittings but that is about it. Very recently my hot end assembly completely clogged up after about 850 hours of printing. Longer sent me a complete new unit with cables attached. I installed it and did a test print. Unfortunately I quickly realized my cooling fan failed so I ordered a six pack of new fans. I cannot wait to get it back up and running because I have some large prints ready that my smaller Ender 2 Pro cannot print due to it's limited bed size. I really like this printer and hope it lasts for several more years without any catastrophic failures.

I’ve been printing mainly abs in an enclosure, just went over 1000 hours. I’ve replaced tubes and nozzles but that’s it so far. I did completely gum up the hit end, but managed to get it clear soaking it in acetone overnight. These are nice budget printers.

This thing is good with abs as long as you keep it in an enclosure. I’m still using the plastic tent in the video and using Abs slurry on the bed.

I love my lk5 pro. I put a knew all-metal v6 hot end on it. I got a second y axis motor, and new fans coming in. I love the upgradability of these things too! It's basically a creality c-10 which is more expensive (even after upgrades.) It's a great printer for the price.
@joesalvator58782 жыл бұрын
P.S. I use acetone too in a different way. I keep a thin layer of upholstery spray adhesive on my bed, and use a little acetone on a rag to reactivate it in-between prints. Works like a charm.

Good Morning Joe, which V6 hot end did you use on your LK5 Pro? Was it easy to upgrade?
@joesalvator58782 жыл бұрын
@@troycarrigan4893 Hi Troy! I was mistaken. I was still learning my terminology when I made this post. Not a V6. It was a all metal swiss clone from gulf coast robotics (American made.) Still a nicer hot end than the factory hot end inmo.

You can very easily remote mount the LCD. In terms of other electronics heat rises so the best Ive found is to use some glue stick and glue aluminum foil to some thin foam insulation and build a pan under the printer tray. Aluminum for radiant reflection and then build a sub tray for the printer with air flow to the electronics out of peg board. Like your top enclosure might steal that even as just a dust cover

I got one of these printers a few days ago, I haven't printed with it yet but it's a stout machine. Honestly I wouldn't go very high temp for long with that stock PTFE tube, it is NOT a Capricorn tube, I have tubes like that from years ago and they're the cheap ones, Capricorn have a darker blue. Those stock tubes may let off some additional fumes even with petg. But hell it looks like you're getting good results 👍

The new Longer LK5s come with the dual cooling fan as stock. I have this printer and it's an absolute champ. Picking up a few more for this price. I've only printed in PLA+ and am switching to ABS. What is the absolute fastest I can print ABS? What is the secret to printing ABS? Thanks!
@DoItYourselfDad Жыл бұрын
The trick to printing ABS on this thing is bed adhesion and air temperature. I use the glass side of the build plate with an ABS/Acetone slurry on it. Build plate at 100, nozzle at 250. Part cooling fan off. Print speed at 50mms. Get a enclosure for the printer (I have the one Im using linked). Once the print has started don't open up the enclosure at all.

@@DoItYourselfDadawesome, I ordered 5 of the tents you’re using and 3D GlooP for ABS for the bed. Thanks for these great tips. I wanted to update all of them to the dual Z-axis. Ordering the kits from longer. Longer doesn’t have the cables oddly, where can I get the cables for the Zaxis motor? Lastly I have a distinct thump on the bed travel, you think the wheels are over tightened? Again, your video is so chock full of information.

If your printing with ABS definitely, PLA is a bit more forgiving but it would definitely help.
@DoItYourselfDad2 жыл бұрын
Also, if your printing with ABS you should do it on an area like a garage that’s not inside your home. It should be well ventilated.

Bought the Longer LK5 Pro 3d printer and it didn't work right out of the box. The Z axis would only go up but not down, wouldn't home and was doing strange things. So, I contacted Longer support to find out that my printer had a bad motherboard. Then they told me they would ship me a new motherboard and to fix it myself. I guess they got the name LONGER for it want work long but takes longer to get it fixed. I wouldn't trust anything with the brand name Longer on it. I have three other 3d printers from three different manufactures and have had no issues. Again, I wouldn't trust anything with the brand name Longer on it.

Why do you need to seal the machine using abs? Just learning this whole subject matter...
@DoItYourselfDad Жыл бұрын
ABS needs a higher air temperature while printing, it’s also very finicky about any slight changes in air temperature and warping while printing. Covering it gets the air temp up to around 110f and prevents any breezes from windows or opening doors from causing warping while printing.
