Ive watched this video a million times. Ive rebuilt tons of carbs too. I replaced the float needles and seats in my carbs and cleaned the jets with an actual tool for cleaning jets. Cant figure out why the rear cylinder is misfiring now. It was running fine before i took it apart. Now ive taken them apart and put them back in the bike like 6 times. I even bought new carb boots to make sure there is no vacuum leaks. sprayed starting fluid all over my engine to double check. Ive been at this for four days now... im a mechanic too so this is really hurting my ego lol. i really hope my intake valve isnt messed up. maybe the mixture screw or the main jet hole after the gas travels through the tube???

One more thing, there is a tiny o-ring inside the Main jet holder. How do you replace that? Mine was hidden and invisible inside the holder where the jet screws into it. The threads on the jet stop before they get to the head so I'm not sure if they should be pushed up to there or if they sit down inside the jet holder post like a garden hose washer sits inside the part you screw onto the spigot.

I'm a little worried because what you call the choke jet doesn't seem to have a hole in it. Is it smaller than any other jet? I have carb cleaning needles and the smallest one's tip seems to find what may be a hole, but it won't go in. Maybe I need to buy a wire brush? You show the wire going all the way in. I'm afraid to put my carb back together because everything else is clean, but I can't verify this is clear.

@@DoityourselfMotorcyclerepairs Found it! I did have a tiny plugged hole in each tube. The smallest carb cleaning needle was too large to clean that hole when clogged. @charlesthomas1353 жыл бұрын
You're going to give them "about 2.5 turns" then tune and sync them once they're on the bike and running. This is how all carburetors work. You have a baseline where you know (the factory knows) your carburetors will definitely operate (probably poorly) and then you go from there. That's the point where the bike will at least fire up so you can get it tuned.

Most likely the air box it's not attached to the carburetor correctly and it's sucking too much air. Take the gas tank back off and check the small air box, where the two clamps are attached to the carburetor that it's nice and tight and also that the outer airbox is conected correctly ... it's very important ! If it's sucking air in any of those connections it will act exactly the way you have described

But the problem i am having is the bike just idles, and when i give it more throttle it shuts off. also when it idles the front cylinder is not working and the air is cold when i feel it on the exhaust. i opened the air filter. when i cover the air hole completely the bike works fine i can even ride it. for some reason its sucking in too much air (replaced the air filter but the problem persists). can you tell me what i need to do....please . thank you
@DoityourselfMotorcyclerepairs4 жыл бұрын
You actually answered your own question when you said it's sucking way too much air...the problem you having is with the airboxes. They have popped off their place in one or more areas... there is one airbox on top of the carburetors that is connected to bigger one on the side. The first mistake in cleaning your carbs is tearing into them without first using a good carb cleaner in a tank of gas. 95% of the time, if your carbs are plugged from old E10 gas, running Seafoam and riding the bike hard, with the trottle open 75% or more, will clear your jets, float bowl, and fuel pump within 200 miles. IF your bike will start and run at all, Seafoam or another carb cleaner is worth a try, about $10. Obviously if the jets are totally plugged you cant clear them by running fuel through them. Or if they are clogged from rust in the tank.
