So i am at a loss as to what to do i .i thought at first governor maybe but cant find any info or if that is a issue for bikes dont think its the carb or pinch fuel line as the bike dose not chock or die or have any prob with acceleration and i gone down the list check brakes so on Sorry for long msg just wanted to make sure you new what i did and to ask if you or any one else could shine some lite on this and. See JCs other video here kzbin.info/www/bejne/boLXnqmehLGGgqM. You can also search other videos on carb cleaning that bike. It can only be fuel, air or fire (spark) ;) Most of the time carb which controls both air and fuel. So too rich or more likely too lean where the main jet takes up above the throttle point from the pilot jet. Start with a good cleaning. Perhaps the real expert, JC, will chime in. In the meantime, check the easy stuff, fuel filter, air filter, and the boots or seals at the bottom of the carbs into the engine. Are their any cracks? Are they loose? At throttle, that can put too much air into the mix and give the same symptom.

What is the brass post that turns green usually that is the 3rd brass pipe that sticks out? There is a pilot jet, the main jet, then the brass tube. It has a depression in it, but doesn't seem to actually have a hole that runs all the way through it. Does it need to be cleaned in any way?
@retrotechandelectronics4 жыл бұрын
Do you refer for the one for the enrichener?
@frightrisk74074 жыл бұрын
@@retrotechandelectronics I don't think so, but that brings up another question. Do you lube the enrichener rod? If I push the end of the rod, it slides very smoothly. But if I try to pull where the cable pulls (an inch away from the plane of the rod)n t creates a lever so that there isn't just an in and out sliding force on the rod, but now a torque force that wants to push one side of the rod against the inside of the tube it rides on and the other side of the rod against the outside of the tube in the other carburetor. So now there is more friction. Sometimes it is much harder to slide the rod from this position. It really sticks. I haven't put it back on the bike yet, but notice that it was hard to pull the choke cable before. So this is a potential problem. Since it goes inside the carb, I was afraid to put any lubricant on it like lithium grease. But to answer your question, in the center of the bowl of the carbs, above the floats, there are 3 tubes and a hole. I see the confusion because your carb is different. My solenoids are not on the float bowl cover, they are on the sides and there is just an untapped plug as if they used the same mold for the covers for different carbs. And in this video, you don't have the post I am talking about. Look here: 650ccnd.com/theory.htm. The pic that shows the jets shows the post just to the right of the red arrows. So there is the brass pilot jet, which you can unscrew, the brass holder and main jet, a hole, and a brass tube you can't take out. These are all bunched with each other. I am talking about the tube you can't take out. What is it? Does a hole go through it or is it just a depression cut out to save brass? And the hole next to that? Do I shoot carb cleaner through that? Great and thorough videos btw. Also, your voice, tonality, and pronunciation reminds me uncannily of the Magician and Actor Ricky Jay. He was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Elizabeth, NJ, (where I lived for a time and my grandparents lived for most of their lives). I wonder if either of those is where you grew up. Thanks for your help!
@frightrisk74074 жыл бұрын
@@retrotechandelectronics I'll answer part of this myself. That post seems to be a choke jet. It has a very tiny invisible hole. Mine were clogged. My carb wire cleaning needles were all too big. I took a copper wire from an electrical wire that was just a bit thinner and only with that and spraying and wiggling was I able to finally clean the holes. I am going to try living the enrichener rod. The longer section goes through a hole in the carb body, but not into the working parts inside the carb unless I hear otherwise.
@retrotechandelectronics4 жыл бұрын
FrightRisk it’s not a choke. A choke is a plate that restricts air to richen a mixture. It’s an enrichener , it adds gas to enrichen a mixture. A choke is somewhat of a dated concept.

the rubber mounts for the screws have dried out and are spinning in the tanks mount, there are ways to deal with this, if you are not tool savy you may have to go to a mechanic to have these removed, I used an electric high speed driver to spin them quick to heat up the rubber and let it cool to bind to release them in some cases, then I tossed them and got new ones.
