Chuggaa and Jon only ever upgrade their HP, so even though they survive a hit, they never send back enough damage, and Tim upgrades his attack, but he can never take a hit. I love this series a lot, but gosh is it frustrating to watch sometimes

Are they even ready for Overlord Rico? Maybe Jon might be, but at this point, they either need more training or need to get lucky on getting first with the cards or getting Deathblocks/Revivals. Without those, they will all just be trapped in his chamber, hoping to get the exact rolls just to challenge him and probably lose, and make their way allll the way back in his chamber, where one of them must get lucky enough. This game is like Ridley, it simply refuses to be finished off...

I beat the game on turn 108 on my first playthrough. They have the levels alright, just not the gear. A stat doubling potion would do the trick for sure.

I'm with Pletter; they at least need better gear. Problem is: Chugga's hypercompetitive. At the very least, he won't let Jon get to Rico first without a fight, and Tim's just not prepared himself yet. I foresee more screwing around before anything gets done.

down (halve monster's stat) is a very good field magic to use against these bosses. It would turn him into a sitting duck. Can be bought for 4k in the tower even

He does look imposing, but there's something they can do to make the fight free. The Magic Shop on the second floor sells Sleepy Time and Down. The former pits victims to sleep and the latter cuts all stats in half for like 5 turns.

I know this series is already recorded and ended so as a result any "advice" anyone types would be useless but if for some reason anyone in the comments wants to know an easy way to beat Rico Sr: use Soul Fire from the Monk class and have Deathblocks. Your attack goes up by 50% every turn. Eventually your Attack stat will be so damn high you will kill him. Ironically Chugga did have this exact setup that could've worked.

Bowserslave You just need to be a competent HP tank and one overworld turn to make this work. There us no eventually, it is immediate. HP tank with Soul Fire is the optimal build for Dokapon Kingdom because SF is just that broken.

Bowserslave Reading it wrong. Battle turns are different from how turns in the overworld pass. In one overworld turn (say Chugga->Jon's turn) there are 4 battle turns. Soul Fire activates every battle turn including the one you use it on. An attack stat like Chuggas could hit cap in 4 battle turns, which gives the opponent two attacks. He had 1700 HP is he's not going down in 2 hits. Then he oneshots with an absurd ATK stat.

Probably, but at that point it's better to just cut your losses, make as much profit as you can on items and spells, get rid of your big bug, and buy whatever you can and if you still don't have enough, THEN steal. After that you an just slowly make your way back to the item shop for more spinners.

I may have clocked far more hours into Awakening than either of them combined due to completionism, but the Tellius game’s will always hold a special place in my heart (if the UN wasn’t indication enough), and SS was pretty fun too. Not that fond of SD though, but I don’t dislike it as a whole. Funnily enough, the Sora portrait uses my least favorite Lord’s portrait as a base (it’s FE6 Roy if you look close enough).

I think the game's setup in the end is very similar. Maybe not, though. From what I remember, the final path is pretty much a singe stretch , but I imagine you'd still be going back and forth a lot due to not getting the right number to land on that final space. Again, I could be very wrong. I haven't played this game in a good number of years.

Gear Wax Actually Chugga is terribly equipped (no shield and no defense magic) and Tim has a sub optimal build with a garbage shield. It's not actually this bad.
