Doki Doki Precure Review Part 3

Even if baby mascots like Chiffon, Hugtan, and Ai-chan are mostly just used to give the Cures an OP boost, I don’t really mind it so long as I find them endearing. I really enjoy moments in Fresh where Chiffon is just quietly contemplating a new experience, and we can see the gears turning in her head as she remembers what Love taught her to decide on what to do to make other people happy. I also find it precious just watching Hugtan explore the world around her and imitate Hana’s spirit and quirks to shape who she becomes in the future.

I don't have much to say on this arc. All I have to say is that Cure Ace did finally fit in to the team. I do like Aguri, but I wish they had not made us think that Regina was going to pull a face turn for nothing. Edit: Almost forgot to mention the fact that I was surprised that you didn't mention that Ira was voiced by the person who voices Luffy.

I have a suggestion for your Happiness Charge Precure reviews when you get to them. If you are going to review it in quarts: Do the first quart then New Stage 3, then the second and third quart, then the serial movie, and then the final quart.

I think the main issue is how they were introduced : One was properly introduced to us before the big reveal. The other was basically a "Your Sixth Ranger Identity Theories suck" towards the audience. So the fans' opinion was tainted by a terrible first impression from both a character and writing standpoint. Basically, pulling off a Shyamalan to introduce a is not a good way to make give a good impression.

@@nintendolife25 The entire "Your 6th Ranger Theories Suck" way she was introduced basically left the viewers with this bitter taste of a bad joke that didn't go away. First impressions are *very* important. You mess it up, then your character will always be judged by your failure to introduce her properly. They should've introduced her human self first, then have her transform *in front of the the other Cures* and there you have it : the worst part of her introduction has been averted.

I think you have forgotten or maybe you are just saving this for later, but selfishness and selflessness are 2 sides of the same coin. You can be selfless, but at the same time your actions can prove to be selfish too. Vice versa can also be applied. But anyways, great review as always. Doki Doki Precure have some of the most best scenes that I have seen in Precure, it is no wonder that I put this at my top 5, even trumping Hugtto Precure despite being the most mature ones out there. One thing I am glad this Precure do, is how much they can go beyond their limits with this show compare to any other Precure shows out there, especially the more recent ones. Heck, this part alone has given a few examples already. And it is sad, that this is the ONLY Precure that is willing to do just that, and no other Precures can do this. But at the very least, that just make this series a lot more unique than anything. Looking forward to the next and final part, I am really loving this review as much as I love Doki Doki Precure.

Here we go! Long Comment below! Timestamps below! 2:52 Honestly Aguri grew on me. Ace might have been a mistake, but I don't blame people for not liking her. She can come off as a brat and despite story related reasons, the writers knew that not giving a fan favorite cure status would hurt and YET they still chose to do it anyways. Aguri does get more likable further on, but I'm just not a huge fan she's a child. 7:15 will give credit that Aguri is speaking vague BS here, but at least it's important to the story and is retconned later on. 7:34 The time limit is total BS. I think it could've been used more efficiently, but it is the catalyst of starting the team development! 11:15 I love this episode too. The fairies really deserves more love! 17:13 This is the reason why I grew to like Aguri. Her transformation, her themeing, it really works well to show how she had to deal with big things just as a child and that it can be really taxing on your mentality when you fail. I really like the mirror arc because it honestly shows the better parts of Doki Doki and I just wish more episodes had this conflict better integrated into the story. 20:42 I was always mixed on this scene and I think @AzenZone put it the best. The entire scene is just so rushed and tries to make it look like huge blow to the cures, but I can't bother to care considering everything is just happening so quickly. This is what I meant when I say Doki Doki's biggest strength and flaw is it's story. On one hand, things move quickly and you're able to get the gist of things when it happens. When character moments are good, they're good, but on the other hand it really comes to their expense ironically. The story has a clear goal, but the characters kind of get butchered getting there. I remember how an interview for this episode came out and the writers mentioned how it was a big changing moment and I could NOT care less. It doesn't help that the mirror they got an episode earlier breaks and everyone freaks out, but the crystals that they fought for that all went to Ace..A-Okay? Like it's kind of a disconnect. 22.49 Hooray! The villians with little purpose left the series! :p Pretty brutal, but too bad they had such a little impact on things. They could easily be replaced with a new gimmick and it would work just the same. 24:38 I absolutely agree! I wish we got more episodes like this. Considering there is a healthy balance to be had. Being too selfish is not a good thing, but being too selfless is just as destructive and can lead to a really lonely, depressing life. I really wish we got more episodes like THESE with Mana instead of the whole "we can't do it without her!" shtick. They're just much more effective. You could argue Mana is a really selfless character, but at the same time, this causes her to neglect her friends feelings and makes it harder to understanding other people's POVs are in her mind, just being easy-going and selfless + wanting to help is enough for her own sake. And I will give credit where it is due. The theming of Doki Doki is good! But I do think at some points it's kind of ambitious for it's own good. 28:19 I really like this episode! It gives much needed development to Alice (poor baby needs it) Good luck Alice fans! This is the last you'll get! 29:15 Ai-Chan is the worst fairy baby not just because of the deux ex machinas, but because of shoving in the whole "mothering" thing in the leading episodes that could've been used for ACTUAL development. At least Hugtan and Chiffon had a purpose. Ai-chan's powerup for the villains literally add very little other than giving some foreshadowing to an "eh" conclusion. Ahhh. Here we go for the finale! Thanks for the review!~

Like I said in my comment, selfishness and selflessness are 2 sides of the same coin. There is always a side that when you are selfless, you are also selfish at the same time, and vice versa. This is something that even the Precures themselves, including Mana, do eventually admit, that they also have selfishness in themselves. There is always a black in white, one cannot exist without the other. Also I am happy for what Alice got in this series, while I do appreciate if we have more, but I'll take what I can get. At least Alice has one more awesome moment in this series.

You're thoughts on Ace are not bad as I to feel their is comparison between her and Ako but I feel Ako is everything she isn't a way better parental relationship, way better friend to help balance her out, the fact she was their from a early point meant it didn't feel cheap that she was Muse and the fact that while she was critical she was that way mostly as jokes were as Ace is always doing this in her plot episodes. Her relationship with her grandma was sweet I will say and I did turn around on her after awhile but I still think the season would've been better without her. I just like to try and be like well she exists, nothing I can do so I try to find some positives in her which there are. It's why I don't get mad she's in All Stars, more so that Regina doesn't (god damn redemptive villains who are awesome getting no or being barely shown in all stars.) and while I will still say she is a pretty cure and a hero at the end of the day despite how much I don't like her. As for her being their mentor figure, I understand where you are coming from but I feel that role could've gone to and might have been better to go to Mr. Klindike over there. It would give him more depth and even help to show him as a wise but joke mentor kinda like what I thought he would be like early on. Unfortunately because he left to go hide his girlfriend, we need a little brat to do it.

It either becomes so overused by everyone that we wonder what's the point of having elementary school aged magical girls or has drawbacks that normal transformations lack. After all, her predecessor did not have such limitations and the latest Little Cure didn't have such issues either. Now that I think about it, is she the only Cure to have any sort of Adult Mode? Because it definitely looks like she is. And that would just give my statement that much more credibility. Adult Mode Cures are impractical.

No really, considering Rikka/Cure Diamond's VA also did the Japanese voice for Astrid from How to to Train Your Dragon, I'm surprised Azen didn't make any references to that franchise. Also considering that the next season had many Megumis, this season had many Astrids. Mana's did an Absol belonging to a trainer named Astrid, and Cure Diamond did the Astrid from the Hofferson clan, as already stated. Yes, Diamond is a favorite thanks to the VA, and wishes she got more attacks, like say an axe?

This season was a mixed bag. Mana was an annoying and unrealistic character. Alice was a plot device character who pretty much got over her problem in one episode and didn’t stand out in particular or change. Makoto wasn’t bad but she was underutilizatded. Arguri was good aside for, her introduction. The villains were meh to. They were one dimensional with pretty much one personality trait and that is it and we’re just evil for the most part. Bel was the only one of the ,win trio I like and Leva and Gula were plot device character. King Jikochou had a short but sweet character. I like Regina but she,her father,and Bel were the only good villians. The mascots were just okay. They were not annoying but they pretty much did nothing for most of the show side for a few character focused episodes. Air was okay. I only liked Dabi. Overall this was a pretty crappy season with boring villians,very okay macros and a mixed bag and flawed cast with Rikka and Aguri being the onl6 standout characters. Yeah if you like the plot this will be an entertaining season but if you don’t like the characters they I suggest don’t watch. I will only watch this season because of the plot or a Rikka or Aguri episode. Everything else is just garbage and unrealistic. It is not horrible had a good plot and a few good characters to keep me entertained enough but overall was a pretty mixed bag.

Can someone give me a good reason to like Mana. She is completely flawless and unrealistic and her character arc is reoppetive and basically restes. I liked Heart at first aside from her weird character design but in the end she came off as unrealistic and no working to hard and thinking for herself does not count because she does not learn that and even if she did it is just written badly. I want to l8ke you Heart you had potential but no it was not well executed.
