You're absolutely right Kirk. Thats where I learnt a lot of my solo skills because the solos our favourite players create have already been composed, and by studying how they piece them together, which licks they pick, where they pause, where they speed up, etc, gives us a lot of info and lessons :) Glad you enjoyed it man! Have an amazing day!

Very cool, I love the delay. Anyway you can tell me the settings? And which delay model you used, etc...
@jayguitar4 жыл бұрын
Thanks dude! So for recording I use the Soundtoys Echoboy delay - default Echoplex setting from the presets, then I just mix until it sounds right (usually around 25% to 30% mix). On the explanation part I think I was still using the POD HD at that time. I was using the analog delay with modulation - modulation switched off - 470ms delay, 25%-30% mix and feedback. Hope that helps! Have an amazing day!!!

Thanks Jay, for breaking down this amazing solo piece by piece, yard by yard. This is one of those most loved solos that was ever done. I remember you from back in the Dojo days. Seeing how great you have come as a guitar player. I bought your Strange Days solo album, which is awesome! You and Tony Fuentes, are doing a lot of great work out there. I watched some Gus G interviews with Chris Broderick as well. Also some Ethan Brosh kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2q9pHaVmcyGbrc , material. That whole trading solos was just awesome to watch between him and George. I only heard it on the album, but to see them live playing this was new and awesome. Seeing George's interviews with Chris Broderick from Megadeth trading licks back and forth. I see a lot of great things out there out on youtube. You make things look easy, but it take a lot of practice to keep the chops up to this level. Watch this concert and you will see how much Melodic stuff is out there that makes us even better players. This is Til Tuesday's Concert. Could you imagine George, having Amy playing on Bass and singing in the band? That Keyboard player and drummer are really good to filling in all those key notes. Their guitar player is pretty awesome, with all those chord combinations and the sounds she comes up with out of that guitar. Don't Watch Me Bleed, is just awesome. Their songs or so melodic sounding and how this sound scales up the neck the way she uses the vibrato. Then resolves with this really great run at the end. It is the kind of music that puts me in a trance sort of state. I hear these magical notes that just take me places. Amy, seems like she is about to cry singing the song called "You Know The Rest", but then plays a really great upbeat song to change the mood to make everyone feel better. When songs are personal to the people who have lived through those experiences and they know others have gone through similar things it resonates with the audience. I love how the keyboard player fills in his own vocals in the parts of that song and compliments Amy's singing. You have that same collaboration in some Roxette songs. It is just magical to see two singers in the band feeding off each other to make the song even more magical. The solos in these pieces are just gold. Simple yet effective and make you just love these songs. It isn't how fast you can play but, how you use the notes that is important that makes a great band. That chemistry that makes the band work. It is all about how they make you feel. She saved the best song they are known for for last, Voices Cary. kzbin.info/www/bejne/noG9l5iVeN-SbLc I just found the Return to the East 2016 to 2018 out there so will have to watch it all. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIS8YYauqNR-obc

@@jayguitar Jay, yea it has been a long time. Seems like yesterday, that we were all involved in taking all those lessons. It was one of the most fun times in my life. I had some work done to my 2 electric guitars. I also own one acoustic. I had locking tuners put on both. There is a block added to the bridge Floyd Rose to give it more sustain. A volume mod was done to make it so when I roll it back it cleans up. That was for both electrics. For the Tiger, I had the kneck fixed, so that it was more playable. I had a Bullet Floyd Rose put on it. The sustain was awful before this one done on the Tiger. Now it plays a lot better. The pickup was changed out to Duncan JB2. My Messa Boogie, broke and was getting worked on. They replaced the tubes that had gone out. Said they can't fix the part that is something to do with a mode it goes in with some of the diodes. Said sometimes it happens and just have to turn the amp off and back on to get it to work as it should. I mainly just play now on the JS-10. Pretty nice unit, that has a speaker as a built in portable unit that can take anywhere very quickly. I don't get to play as much now as I used to. When you live with other people, it isn't easy to play at any time I want. When I lived in a small apartment by myself, I would always be on the guitar and that amp 2 hours a day. Because, I had worked night shift, the other people were gone during the day as to not bother people at that time. But, I still had to play the amp at low volumes. So I had the master all the way up and the gain no more than a little over the 2 setting. It goes all the way to 10. This way the things that make the amp sound good happen, but it isn't so loud that people complain. I come up with some new sounding runs now. Trying out various things. Discovering songs from the past from just jamming along and say to myself. Hey I remember that one and start playing more of it trying to figure out the rest. Using a pedaling technique on the same notes. I guess it would be called trill. I try to practice figer picking, because I'm not that good at it. The acoustic forces me to have to play differently. Going back to playing the electric after the acoustic makes playing seem a lot easier.

Hi Jay, so I don’t think anyone mentioned this, but on that fast run going up the neck, there’s a lot of different tabs obviously out there. Some say there all hammer ons, some say there is a slide there, which one is correct ? For example: the first couple hammer ons sounds like 5^6^8 on the B string and then 5^7^8 on the high E string. Some Care but does it really matter ? Everyone has there own way of doing it but as far as playing exactly to the record, the first couple hammer ons sound like those .
@jayguitar2 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, great Q and I know a few people have commented on this point - I've watched George play this numerous times and froem what I see, he picks the notes on the B string and then single picks the note on the E string and then hammers on. The slide is added to get to the next position. Anyways, those are my thoughts 🙏 Hope that helps. Have an awesome day!

hey jay do find the best george lynch guitar tab book to acurate
@jayguitar3 жыл бұрын
Hey Marc, hows it going? Best tab books - thats a tricky one as I have found that a lot of tab of George's songs are incorrectly done because of the quirks of his playing style - just little things here and there - so I used to just create my own tabs from the knowledge that i have 😊 The Wicked Sensation and Lynch Mob II books are really good though - pretty accurate. Hope that helps! Have an amazing day!
