The Odile face is designed by Minh-Tam Nguyen. She is a Facial Designer at Mattel and she even made a lot of the face screenings for this face mold.

❤❤❤ I really wished that Mattel would not give dolls plastic tops! It's definitely something that as a xennial I prefer the 1980s and Early 1990 Barbie's. The plastic top makes them look like cheap dolls from a dollar store!

Yes! Before you said it, I already wanted to comment that I want to see the Odile face with a teeth-showing smile!! 😁 I really wonder if I will like her like that. I think I would, even though I don't like this closed mouth version. The pink haired Odile mermaid shows teeth but isn't smiling 🤔 On the eyes, yes it looks great that they are printed in blue! But I like the new eye style that's used on the new Color Change Fairy even more! That looks even more like the 'magical' 90's eyes 🤩

Somewhere else someone mentioned the eye spacing on the Odile doll face, they are so far apart and often times because of the mold, the eyes are printed angled, which doesn't look natural.... After someone else pointed that out, now I can't unsee it! As for the 12 Days of Christmas... I agree, they are over priced, but as someone who collects vintage, obsessed, I have ordered two of them! The My Scene, when I heard about it I had little to no excitement, but after I saw them, yes! I like them all... and this more realistic style of clothing is what I would like to see for classic Barbie too. I am so over the stretch polyester stretch dresses with visible hems. I guess for me, because I do collect 60s Barbie, I always compare everything to Barbie's original outfits. I get it, the different body type are great as a social issue, but all those different body types killed the "fashion" aspect of Barbie, because they have to make outfits that can fit all of the different body types, that means cheap printed stretch poly. I think that is why in lines like Besties and My Scene, you get better clothing, one body type.

I LOVE the new My Scene dolls. I had the CD-ROM game growing up, and the dolls’ outfits remind me of some in the game, but also fresher. I loved My Scene’s website as a kid, too. I know they won’t bring those things back, but I am excited for the dolls.

As a collector of mostly 90s to 2000s-era barbies, Odile is absolutely a sculpt I’ll be getting at some point. Definitely gonna be re-bodying her lol but I do really love her face! She’s both adorable and a little more mature, which I’ve sorely missed!

The Odile Barbie is my favorite. 💖 And yes, the shapeless T-shirt dress is back, but I find them suitable for Ken. I don't sew, so I just tuck the bottom under to make it shorter. Sometimes, it's not okay to judge a T-shirt dress by its style.

Regarding the WICKED link fiasco, it is not just on the box. The paperwork included inside the box also has the adult site listed. So a sticker isn't going to fix the issue. I suspect a recall of the product as each doll will require opening and the paperwork being swapped. Given they are still sitting on the shelves and not really selling as of Monday, cheaper to recall then ship stuff out and let stores handle it.

I have to admit that I didn't go to the website when I unpacked my Elphaba, the packaging went in the recycling after I unboxed her. I think the only doll type that has the info in the box is the singing version but the others can just have the incorrect website covered. Kudos to the actual website, they have changed the landing page (I understand) and made it less suggestive...

Congrats on 100k!! I think I'll believe the change over when they do a "typical" Barbie using the smiling Odile face. She gorgeous and I want to see both faces as the new Barbie. I really like her, she feels modern and vintage at the same time. I love those sparkling blue eyes, it really does lend to that idea of fantasy Barbie. Rainbow high makes me sad. I do like they're making them more diverse with their skin colours, but they feel really basic. I agree, a crystal theme could have been so much better. Oh well. I miss Shadow High already.

That Advent calender set needs better jewelry (real strung beads, for instance) and an elevated pair of shoes with real details (gems, feathers, bows) would really help. $160 should get you more than a vinyl (not Silkstone, sorry) repro doll and two very simple outfits with a bunch of injection-molded plastic doodads.

We seem to have such different opinions when it comes to doll fashion. I mean some things I agree withm like the hideous T-shirt being hideous, but I like Chelsea the least out of MyScenes. I am glad you talked about them. Personally, in theory I'm glad they didn't just do a reproduction too, but in the end I only really like Barbie and they look so much younger than the original version, which is a surprising choice. I preferred their original faces, but I do also hope they make more (and that I'll be more excited about them).

I miss when Doctor/Scientist Barbies would wear heels and then underneath their lab coat is a cute outfit to go to a party or on a date later lol. It makes them way more versatile. Like I never graduated towards these dolls as a kid, but I remember getting a Dentist Barbie one that I loved cause she was just so pretty and I could just take her lab coat off and could still play with her.

"Mattel making Scooby Doo dolls"? It would be the third time. First edition was (Barbie as) Daphne. Second edition was (Barbie as) Daphne, (Ken as) Fred, (Ken as) Shaggy, and (Skipper) Velma. ALL were issued Pink Label. Now a third edition?? 😳 If they're going to re-issue any one particular item, my hope is that I would want in my collection is the Eye Doctor Playset. Every year the Career Line has Doctors, Dentists, Baby Doctors, etc but one Eye Doctor. How about an X-Ray Technician, a Hearing Doctor, a Physical Therapist, etc??? A career specialist dealing with all the special dolls that were issued so far?
