Wow Love the antique doll.- My mother was born in 1918, so I actually felt emotional seeing that date. She lived to be 90 and had a more modern porcelain doll in her bedroom for many years. (Yes, I am old- born in 1939 and still loving dolls and dolls' houses.) Today, ten of my tiny dolls arrived after being restrung by a talented woman close to my age. I love your 'doll sleuthing"!

Plus, I imagine that the second face would have been a iron on transfer that went with the pattern. She would have been made from a pattern which are still available as well as costume patterns.

Thanks for that information! I considered that she might be iron on. Would love to view some of these patterns. Would you be able to direct me what to look up online? 😍✨

Hi Dot that was great! I really loved seeing your china dolls close up. The boots on the real antique doll are so pretty. They could be old replacements. The originals might have been more crude looking. I would definitely keep them on her because the doll and those boots have probably been together a long time. You mentioned the one reproduction doll had her legs stitched together and wow that is pretty weird. I have never seen that before. I don't know the purpose unless that was their way of keeping the china feet from clanking together and chipping. A better way to achieve that purpose is to use a small old wooden thread spool and push a rubber band through the hole so that each leg can be slipped through each loop of elastic poking out the holes on the ends if that makes sense. If you have small stringing elastic that can work too and probably would be easier to thread through the holes in the spool, then tie a knot after you have both ends of elastic through and the legs secure. That was sweet of you to mention my name. You didn't have to do that. I am happy to assist you with any further such purchases. I love china dolls too as you know. Just now getting things back to normal after our cruise and could settle down and watch this video. How tall is the antique doll????? I might have a simple dress pattern that would fit her.

Diana! I missed you! I am so excited to share something new with you! I'll share a post on Instagram tomorrow but you'll see in my video tomorrow. (12 PT) 😄 I'm starting to "get" it with the Chinas. I agree that Margie's boots are replacements. Thanks for weighing in on the legs tied together. I was thinking same that it would keep them from clanking. I'll have to re read your post about the spools tomorrow when I'm awake. Lol. I'm on a doll "high " right now with the Chinas. I'm sure you had a wonderful cruise. Looking forward to sharing dolls with you 🥰😍✨

I wasn’t a fan of dolls either, but I did like paper dolls. I would spend hours cutting up the Sears catalog….but I cut out the furniture and set up houses for them. All the dolls are nice finds. I would like to find some of the dolls that were printed on flour sacks. They were cut out and stitched and stuffed.

Aw that's so sweet! I can just imagine creating a little 2 dimensional world for your paper dolls. 👯♀️👯♀️👯♀️👯♀️🥰 Ooh that would be amazing to find a flour sack doll Please share when you do! 😍✨

Can I suggest you look into a lady who inherited her mother’s doll store. She’s from the USA, her name is Rachel Hoffman. She and her staff are very knowledgeable in these types of dolls.

The 1918 doll has a beautiful face. Maybe someday you can find some antique arms for Margie that are the appropriate size.❤

Oh, doesn't she just? I'll be on the lookout. Her lack of an arm doesn't seem to bother her in the least somI suspect it's been gone a very long time. 🤣✨😍

I am just editing my video now to show how I fixed her up. I am really loving learning about antique dolls. Thanks for showing the differences between antique and reproduction. 😃

Aha, now I know it "D"! 😂 How funny is that? It's not a common name at all. I think her eyes look a little funny because her upper lashes slant inward. I thought that was odd also, but was how the template was made. 😍✨

Hello, The arm and legs on the 1918 doll look to be in proportion to the size of the head , they could very well be the original one's, they often don't match exactly in colour as they will have been made at different times, the fabric looks like it has been damp at some point and has mildew stains, it could have been stored away for years and older houses were often damp. some antique dolls have very long arms coming down past their knees, I know nothing about ragdolls other than they were mostly home made. Best wishes from Yorkshire, England 🇬🇧

I am a knitter. I wash every kind of wool like her hair. I use special wool wash . Rinse and squeeze out in a towel . Lay flat to dry. I would wash all of her with this special non rinse soap.
