I had a chicken fried steak at a Cheddar's restaurant around 15 years ago that shoots your theory right in the foot. When they served it to me, I realized the actual steak had shrunk inside the breading, it was kind of rattling around inside the "shell". The actual steak was grey and rubbery to the point of being inedible. I've never had anything so bad before. That was the last time I've ever eaten at that chain.

Thank you for offering what may be some of the most realistic and informative info out there about the nutrition- or not - of low priced food; so many people live on this stuff and it is helpful to actually discuss the value of what is being eaten, and you demonstrate well that some very low cost prepared foods are much tastier and healthier, than others.

When I moved to Pennsylvania from Florida when I was 14 (by myself) I went to a MUCH more upscale school than I did in Flaarda and they had CFS and mashed taters days and I would always bring extra lunch money on those days because it was always buh buh buh banging. I moved back to Florida when I was 16 because I was diagnosed with cancer and my parents wanted me to come back home. I worked for them for a little while, and there was this place called Tony's on Westshore Blvd in Tampa that had THE BEST country fried steak. Our office was right across from it so I would always get it when I had a chance. It was the best by far.

You should have just reduced the temperature of the oil and I believe that would have made it better. I know you followed the package directions but sometimes you have to make adjustments😉. Thanks for sharing!

I'm so blessed to live where there's a Walmart store with a grocery section. Their prices are better than a certain big Canadian based chain store that offers a discount "No Frills" option, that is still expensive. We are on disability and have to eat properly, even though our budget is stretched between high rent and bills. It's getting impossible to maintain health conscious eating habits when prices keep going up, and disability payments don't.

Walmart has reasonably priced foods but like everywhere else watch out for too much sodium.

If you add a drop of country gravy is a jar of black pepper, do you have country gravy with pepper or pepper with country gravy because there’s no such things as too much black pepper right!?

I honestly don't understand the backlash in regard to the air fryer; thanks to this show, I subsequently bought one and my burritos, chimichangas, chicken tenders, hot dogs, cheese dogs, seasoned curly fries, onion rings, and so many other things have never been better! Thank you, Larry, for mentioning the very existence of these machines!!! :-D
