Great demo, Tina! It’s harder to find the plates in the US too. By the way, the piece you cut off is a good small ruler!

Thank you for your video...and for the shim ideas!! I just stack a couple scrap pieces of cardstock for shims, but the Manila folder and poster board are brilliant! I’ll be going to Dollar Tree tomorrow! 🥰

Great video, I just did the same thing with one I bought from dollar tree. I just cut 2 pieces of cardstock in half and glued the 4 pieces together. It cut my die perfect. Just subscribed to your channel. Love crafting hacks, since items can get pretty expensive.

Okay, Tina … Having been a year since you posted this video, can you give us a synopsis of your experience with these cutting mats? How’d you like the DT mats as on going cutting mats in your machine?
@patcontant92844 жыл бұрын
I go to a glass place business in my town that make plexi, arcrylic glass. The same place where all the businesses in town got their plexi glass because of Covid. I brought them samples of my Cuttlebug plates yes I still have one of those machines...lol...and the plexi work like a dream. One plate in BC cost about $13 but I have used it many many times. I only need a shim for 1 of my plexi plates because I have a Cuttlebug. 😉 This a great option as well! Love seeing great cost efficient ideas from you! Tfs!

The Big Shot plates are getting harder to find here in the States too Tina, used to get mine at AC Moore, but they shut down. Haven't tried Michael's yet though. I have seen this done with other mats before. I wish I could find these mats in my DT. Maybe one day, I could never find the nautical rope before, but the other week I got 4 bundles, so there is hope yet! lol Hugs, Brenda

QUESTION: I’m wondering … if you used the Dollar Tree POSTER BOARD between the DIE and the top CLEAR PLATE, if that wouldn’t keep the die from “imprinting” itself into that top plate?? You’d still have the correct thickness for your sandwich, but would the die still cut as cleanly? Or would the poster board be too cushion-y to allow a clean cut?

I would be interested in knowing how much use you got out of the one mat. Also, I purchased an Olfa mat online from Michaels for $6.49 US. It is self healing and it doesn’t need to be cut down. It is not as thick as the Magic Mat, which by the way has been on back order for what seems forever. Thanks for the file folder hint.

Well I used it for a month and because it’s not self healing its kind of totally scratched up but still works lol. How big is the olfa mat? I would like to maybe get self healing next time makes more sense . TFW sweetheart 💖

The way I use them everyday about 2-3 weeks and they warped. Unfortunately I didn’t try to heat it to see if it goes back to its shape, but those aren’t self healing.
