This was THE BEST dollar tree DIY Ive seen!! Your ladder was almost spot on!! Zip ties were a great idea.
@ansbach745 жыл бұрын
I love this idea. I would use the dowel screws (they threads at both the ends of the screw) and I would also pre-drill all my holes so the wood would not split Thanks for sharing.

Not going to lie, this is so far the *best* wooden ladder hack I've seen! It looks so cute and sturdy, unlike the really cheap and tacky looking paint stick ones that are everywhere.

Perfect timing. I've had a $50 ladder in my Amazon cart for about a year and I finally removed it. I still want one but didn't want to spend that kind of money. $14 seems more my price range! Thanks so much for this tutorial.

Linda Smith the gorilla glue and stain wasn’t at my dollar tree. The exact items at Walmart are almost $10. So it’s not quite $14 total. That’s just the wood. Add the other stuff and it’s pushing $25-ish. Still cheaper than $50.

Oh, Bethany....that’s really beautiful! I love it. As far as stain or paint on your hands...if you take a bit of salt, baking soda, and a half lemon, it will remove those stains pretty quickly. Dip the lemon in the baking soda and salt and rub the lemon over the stains.

I kind of want to make this. It looks good! The rope is a beautiful touch. Only thing is I would go get 2x4s and have them cut for the sides, then use the rolling pins for the rungs of the ladder, and then I could attach them with screws and wood glue to make it more secure.
@tamielizabethallaway24135 жыл бұрын
Hmmm thats a perfect idea! Would look more real too! You could drill holes in the 2 by 4s to bang the rolling pin rungs in and that would make them even stronger! I made this same ladder about a year and a half ago when i first started getting into diys and i totally should have stained it! the raw wood look is so nice but its so much more put together looking with a cohesive darker look. The only difference is i E6000'd the rolling pins to the joints where the vertical pins met and wrapped twine around there to hide the attached areas so it looked like one long piece :) always love your diys Bethany!

I made a paper towel holder using 2 of the screw things with the circle ends out of a hanging kit, chains, and cup hooks. So as far as putting screws in the end, it is possible, but the wood is so soft it doesn't hold well. I used e6000 on the ends of the screws and actually put the chain link around the screw not hooked into the circle. Works awesome connected under my cabinet

Such a great DIY! I love this. Somehow I feel like there is a new DIY happening this weekend. i think if you went to a hardware store and picked up wood just for the larger side pieces of the ladder you might save some $. I would totally use the rolling pins for the slots on the ladder, I feel like they just add something to it. it's different then other ones I've seen, and I like how the slots are a little chunky. I would probably distress the ladder once everything is put together to make it look reclaimed a little. And I would totally use the rope, I love the way that looks as well. I would definitely have to screw everything in b/c my dog is a maniac and would ruin this in a heartbeat. Thanks for the inspo!!! 💜
