First time on your channel! Also, first time I’ve ever subbed on the first video view BEFORE it was over! Prior to three weeks ago, I’d never even heard of a quilt rack/hanger/ladder, and then a neighbors daughter texted me a picture of hers and asked me if I could make one for her mom. I did, but had no idea what I was getting into! Now I’m snowed under (a feeble at humor, given your conditions!), and EVERYONE wants one! You’ve given me some great ideas like using boards instead of 1” dowels for the rungs, tapering the end of the stiles and using bumper pads! Great video, and you must be one tuff lady to work outside in wintertime wherever you reside! Beautiful scenery there! I’m guessing Montana!

Thank you - I needed to make an easy cat ladder for my back yard, and this did the trick. I just turned the steps so they are flat, and this was perfect! One trip to the hardware store + one evening. Mahalo for the clear, concise instructions.

My son, Matthew is a mechanical engineering major and is finding his love for wood working. I had seen your video for this blanket ladder and I fell in love with it. I asked Matthew for a blanket ladder from him for Christmas. The only thing I asked was that he follow your video. He said your instructions were so easy to follow. He not only made me one but he made his sister, sister in law, his fiancé and her mother one for Christmas. He did an amazing job and they were all blown away by his craftsmanship. Thank you. I would love to send you a picture of the finished product. Thank you again!❤️ 🪜

Can you stain outside on winter or out in the cold?
@tinsande106 Жыл бұрын
I only have oil based stain
@joshuawaddell66404 жыл бұрын
Very nice! I like the look of a 1x3 compared to the other styles personally. When you applied the stain, did you let it dry for a certain length of time before you put blankets on it? My concern would be stain bleeding into a blanket if put on too quickly. Thanks!
@Hertoolbelt4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes you'll want to let the stain dry according to the directions on the back of the can (they vary by types). Also you can add a coat of polyurethane or clear coat over the dry stain and let that dry. That should eliminate any color transfer.

1 thing I noticed that in your video instructions was that you didn't sand the boards before assembly. If I am going to put blankets on the runs I hope they wouldn't get snagged threads

You're right, I didn't show that. I did sand the boards before starting.

Do you mean 1x4 (nominal), which is 1x3 1/2 (actual)? I haven't seen 1x3s before.
@Hertoolbelt4 жыл бұрын
I used nominal 1x3's (actual 3/4" x 2 1/2") they are usually by the 1x4s at my store. If you can't find 1x3's, you can use 1x4's instead, with a few adjustments.

The author does like to from scratch, kzbin.infoUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

5,- blacket ladder. 500+ dollar needed for equipment. NICE
@LeslieWorks4 жыл бұрын
You could make it with a $10 hand saw and a screwdriver if you wanted. Use what you got. I used more expensive and better tools than she did and the finished product is only as good as you make it. I actually used a hand saw to cut the angles.

$5 is misleading. Should read buy these minimal tools and then with $5 buy this wood to make it from. Plus the screws and glue (optional) and stain. Which is closer to $20-$25.
