Really good cookware for backpacking James. You could even boil a small amount of water, say a cup. I am gonna add this to my gear. Thanks
@djschultz15022 жыл бұрын
I left a comment below. I recommend that people not cook in it. It may be toxic under heat If it is not food grade and made in China. The metal most likely contains chromium and lead which are very toxic under heat . I am sure short time use may not be harmful,but used multiple times may cause health issues. Thanks for video. But as for me I would never use it. In fact a lot of camping cookware is not food grade and yet are still sold .

@@djschultz1502 Will burning the bowl off first solve the problem before using it for cooking?
@djschultz15022 жыл бұрын
@@melissahoffman4687 I don't believe so. It is part of the metal used in the manufacturing. A lot of China cookware is made of chromium,lead and other toxic metals and under heat it releases toxins and can contaminate food. Long term use can cause health issues. In the short term use it probably wouldn't be harmful, but I never take the chance.

Good idea. If you get two of those bowls and a couple of bulldog style paper clips, I imagine you could put them together and use it for baking. I think I will be trying that very soon. I like the corkscrew. I'm a waiter/bartender and that one is a keeper. You have the hollow center to the actual corkscrew, the bottle opener/cork stabilizer, the small blade to cut the wine top plastic/foil off, everything you need including a handle for a DIY cooking pot. While it's cooking, you can open a soda/beer/wine bottle and enjoy! Great idea!

Good gear at a reasonable price has been a struggle for us living in the Republic of the Philippines. Much of our gear is "custom made" from surplus store finds, P88 stores, Daiso of Japan, and various import stores. It certainly helps that my brother-in-law purchases some excellent camping items at a local auction house for his re-selling business. We are well supplied these days, but you never know when additional equipment may be needed. This video showcases a great idea that anyone with basic skills can easily replicate. I am thinking of building a few of these simply for the fun of it and trying them out. Perhaps we will have something to share with others during the next disaster. Thank you for posting this. I am sure many folks will benefit.

@@WayPointSurvival You are certainly welcome and again, thank you for all your effort and dedication. Simple projects like this DIY cook pot, basic foodstuffs, and printed information in English and Filipino (Tagalog) about water treatment will allow us to aid others who need assistance in the aftermath of disasters. If not an earthquake (had a big one recently on Luzon) or, less often, a volcano, you can depend on a typhoon striking several times every rainy season here in the Phils.

Another perk of carrying the waiters corkscrew is the addition of the corkscrew itself being useful for getting stubborn knots undone and if modified a bit maybe the tip of the corkscrew could be used for making holes in wood probably more uses that others could come up with after all the only limitation is your creativity.

Nice one. Thanks. I'll trade you one of my $ Tree hacks now. I get two of the bread baking tins, a grill rack and the Fancy Heat alcohol burners. It makes a combination stove/tent heater. Drill a few holes in the bread pans for oxygen inlets and heat outlets and use the grill as necessary for cooking on. It's also super easy to make the alcohol burners refillable. They burn for up to 4 hours. I've got dozens of burns out of them over the past 3-4 years and they're still going strong.
