I can't believe I found this video. I've been brainstorming for a couple of days and had come up with this exact idea on my own except I bought a PVC pipe to run down the middle and drill holes in for water. Was just looking for other people's ideas. Great minds!

I would like to try that with a pvc pipe it would’ve solved the issues I had with this setup of the soil drying out too fast

Thanks for the advice. 🙏 Especially about punching only one hole. I'm always trying to stay ahead of the Summer heat. I think that I'm going to add mulch to the middle n make a smaller hole. This is my first year using these. #I'llHelp🙏TooCute❤

I just got 12 of the gray ones. I haven't used them yet, but I have already fell in love with them. I am thinking about stacking up with different vegetables and herb for spring to fall and take them indoors for winter. That way don't have to replant the ones that are not cold hardy. Dollar store only has 3 colors: The color you have, grey. and dark green. Still $1.25 each.

AWESOME! I saw those at dollar tree but wasnt sure if they would be sturdy enough!
@onceuponatinyfarm Жыл бұрын
They were hard to find last year but I’ve seen a lot of them in the store this year. I wouldn’t use them without a sturdy pole down the middle for support, or just stack a few of them so you don’t have to worry about wind. But at the cheap cost I think they’re worth it.
@marynichols7429 Жыл бұрын
I wonder if a PVC pole would work better because it’s round…
@onceuponatinyfarm Жыл бұрын
@@marynichols7429 that’s actually something I want to try next and add some holes throughout so water can disperse to each level of the tower

Can you do a follow up video with the update on your strawberry tower?
@bobbiduval79612 ай бұрын
I just bought these yesterday at the dollar store I've always wanted a strawberry Tower and didn't know how to put it together or what to do about drainage holes thank you so much! Could you please tell me how you keep gophers from eating their roots of your inground garden beds? I've had a problem when I plant in the ground or even in garden beds that are low like that with gophers😢😢😢
@onceuponatinyfarm2 ай бұрын
I’ve honestly never had problems with gophers my main pests at the moment are rabbits and groundhogs so I wouldn’t even know what to do about them!

I place a container (paper cup or small pot) in the middle instead of the pole so that I won't have to use too much potting mix. I'm thinking how to hack that middle portion so that it's possible to water from the top and let the water disperse. Thoughts?
@onceuponatinyfarm Жыл бұрын
I was thinking about using a piece of pvc pipe as the center post and putting some holes in the sides so maybe water would disperse evenly to each level. Not sure if it would work but I might try it
@clare1072 Жыл бұрын
@@onceuponatinyfarm after posting my comment I found this video. I decided to just water each section on its own (from the center) instead of connecting everything together. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZu1iIqZq8ibf5I

I'm going to make a small hole in the middle to let water run through n add cedar mulch for aeration, pest control n water retention.. Open only one hole as suggested. Also I'm stacking them on top of a 20 gallon container of herbs. Hopefully that'll be enough moisture for the Florida heat.

Hello I bought some a couple of years ago (Facebook ad) believing they were those really good ones from the pictures, turned out not but rather like the ones you have no base no tower very disappointed as bought two and not that cheap. I’ve not used them hope they may be under the house. Can I ask though my strawberry plants get so big do you have enough space in those planters come year two? Thank you.
@onceuponatinyfarm8 ай бұрын
Well my strawberry plants did so poorly in these that half of them didn’t survive. These pots don’t hold on to moisture at all and have to be constantly watered. But what I would have done if they had grown so much is I would have cut some of the runners to create more strawberry beds.
@ishaa59488 ай бұрын
The plants will probably live longer than these planters. I agree that these r most likely too small for strawberries, but u can use them to propagate runners. So u can still profit from using them if only for one Season. 🙏

Thank you for your videos. Does anyone know if these planters are actually food safe? I just picked up a bunch but am concerned there is no marking as to type of plastic, just that it was made in China. I bought them anyhow because I know it's kind of a miracle to find them, but are they actually safe? Thank you!
@onceuponatinyfarm7 ай бұрын
I sure hope they are. On one of my other videos about these planters someone said they dug a little bit asking questions to whoever makes them and found out they are food safe so I hope that is the case.

@onceuponatinyfarm7 ай бұрын
I am in Pennsylvania zone 6b i probably wouldn’t try this in Arizona since it dries out so quickly I had issues here with it drying out so fast and half my strawberries died
@ravenrakia13176 ай бұрын
what size are they? how tall is each one?
@onceuponatinyfarm6 ай бұрын
I think they’re maybe 6 inches deep you can check the dollar tree website for the exact measurements of these
