As futrher organization...I added taller colored paper as dividers with titles of what stamps were in that section.. sentiments, animals, holidays,house mouse, ... whatever sections you want ... that helps me at least start the correct search without having to go thru all the stamps to find what I am looking for..

Terrific! I saw another video where the woman cut down some Dollar Tree frosted, colorless, kitchen cutting mats to make dividers for the different genres of stamps, so that they were an inch taller than her envelopes. She said you can write right on the mats with a Sharpie to label them, and you can write the shape of with nail polish remover, to change the labels. I think there was more than one mat in a package for $1, and you can get multiple dividers from one mat. Thanks for the great idea! Wouldn't we all love to have Jennifer's resources, but isn't it fun to figure out how to do it for less?
@CreatedandMadeStudios2 жыл бұрын
That is amazing - I am almost certain I have some of those placemats too! They come 2 in a package and are pretty large. Great tip, thanks! I love Jennifer!! But I needed the cheapie version for sure haha

I use 3 ring binder and stick my stamps to laminated cardstock.
@cathythestampwhisperer10202 жыл бұрын
Great idea! I photo copy each set I have and number it on the page (I put it in a page protector and then in a binder) and then same number on the sleeve. That way I pull out my personal stamp catalog, flip through it and find the stamp set I want and know exactly where to find it. You can go a step farther by separating them into categories. I have 3 large binders and it really helps. It takes time but it is one of the best solutions to a large collection. Once it is done just keep up with it as your collection grows. Please note I have been using stamps for 18 years 😊 Hence the large collection. I am not a hoarder🤣

Whoa - the stamp catalog idea is incredible! I love that. Nope...no hoarding over here either lol

I wish I'd done that when I started stamping...I have so many stamps now the task would be overwhelming. Even taking pics would be overwhelming.
@cathythestampwhisperer10202 жыл бұрын
@@dinahsoar6982 you can do it. I started after I had many sets. I also unmounted all my wood blocks. It was very overwhelming. One step at a time is best. Make a goal of doing even 5 sets a night, or start now with anything you buy then add a set or 2. Who cares if it takes you a year😊. It feels so good to be able to see what you have at a glance and to know exactly where they are. At first I was stamping them all, then it hit me to photocopy...game changer...lol

My Crafting Buddy started this system for me a few years ago because she's been crafting since dinosaurs roamed the earth! I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so my small motor skills suck and I can't lift anything too heavy. My workstation is far away from my stamp and die storage. I keep the binder with the stamp examples right at my desk so it is super easy and light to flip through when choosing a stamp or looking for inspiration. I also write the identifying information in my examples binder so it's at my workstation if I need it. Some of the categories I use if someone would like a starting point: - Stamp & Matching Die sets - Alpha Numeric & Words - Floral & Foliage - Background & Textures - Critters - Objects I also have a binder for my Dies and one for my stencils at my desk as well. Three one-inch binders in different colours. The stencil one is the newest addition as recently my stencil collection has become ... more! LOL

I started storing my stamps and dies like this about a week ago when I had an epiphany at the Dollar Tree. It's so funny how your video just popped up for me today. You mentioned other photo albums could work in the same way. I just found a photo album at a thrift store that I snapped up for a couple of dollars to use for larger stamp sets. It's amazing how other people's "junk" can be your "treasure," especially when you think outside of the box.
@CreatedandMadeStudios2 жыл бұрын
That's incredible how that worked. I didn't even have my epiphany until way after I tried stuffing my stamps in the photo album as-is. It was so fat and unmanageable then it finally dawned on me to remove the pages lol I love that you were able to find some larger ones too!

Great solution. I'm frugal too and I take the original packaging, and trim a sliver off of the long side..then I remove the stamps and round the corner of the card stock to which they're attached and slip them back in the pkg and store them on their side with the cut side on the top. I always tape the ends of the cell packaging to reinforce it b/c, over time, it might split on the ends..scotch tape prevents that. I store everything similarly..I like to recycle my sparkling water containers (the ones that are the 12 oz cans) ..I cut them in half so I have 2 'boxes without lids"..not really pretty but so useful for many applications. I trim the sides down to about an inch and a half all around and use the shallow box that is left to organize the pieces I'm working on...they stack so the footprint on my work surface is small, gives me more room to work.

What a great idea. I did this for all my misc. stamps, but I went a step further. I went back to Dollar Tree to pick up 4 more albums to use for my cards. I did not tear the books apart for this project. After I finish each new card, I then photocopy the card and on the back of the copy I write down the stamp set name and dies used. I also write down who I sent the card to and date and then place into the sleeve. I did books for Christmas and birthdays. Also a book for extra die cutouts and one for ideas like different embossing techniques etc. Thank you so much for the idea.

Have a BUNCH of ribbon? Not enough things to store it all in or money to buy enough like me? Have a small craft space like me? Then tip ...look up and utilize the top portion of your wall. Get you some cheap metal/aluminum curtain rods from Walmart for $1.07 these days. Between the top of closet door frame and ceiling I can get 2 curtain rides one above the other. I give the top one more room for larger spools of ribbon. Depending on size of ribbon you can sit then on side or on end as well as put one spool on top of another for smaller ones. I have this system going all the way around my craft room even above entry door. I did mine utilizing space between top of closet door and ceiling so it's uniform all the way around the room. So I have mine 2 rows all the way around. Where one curtain rod ends then I put the next one above 1/4 inch or so next to it. Just enough room to be able to slide rod onto hook. It reminds me of a train track of ribbon going around, lol. Might help someone

I've been storing my unmounted stamps since the late 1990's in 4x6 appx zip bags, very inexpensive at the craft store. I originally used those plastic shoe bins to house the sleeves. Later I switched to those decorative photo boxes Michaels sells. I like the ones with metal tags on the end...I identify my boxes that way. Box 1 has topic A-C etc. I'd thought about your method too, thanks for sharing how you approached the storage solution. When you showed how you took apart the individual sleeves I thought I'd suggest leaving a few together for your sets like upper and lower case alphabets or sets with larger stamp quantities.

I've been doing this hack for a while the back side is great if you take a piece of white paper cut it to size and print the rubber stamp on the paper then when you put it in your plastic shoe box to file your rubber stamps have that piece of paper with the image on it facing forward as you flip through the file it will be quicker an easier to find exactly the stamped image you want transparent s h e e t at most stationery stores and cut it to size if your stamp does not come sheet
