What a BRILLIANT idea! I was searching for a way of storing all my stamps that don't have foam or wooden block backing, but that also wouldn't cost me a fortune, this really seems to fit the bill. Thanks so much for sharing!

Wow wee!! Great way to store the uncounted rubber stamps. I’ve struggled with many different ways to store them. This is, by far, the best way. And simple to make as well. Thank you for showing us how to do this. ❤️💕

This is such a great idea! Thank you for sharing! I'm going to try this but a little different. Where you place two rectangles of the laminating sheets glossy side to each other, I think you could replace one of those sheets with just white cardstock or paper. The outside laminate sheet will bond to the paper, but the inside (glossy side facing the paper) won't, so you still get your pocket and you have a white side already there! I mostly use clear stamps, so this will provide a crisp white background so I can see the images and I won't be pulling out my white insert every time I use the stamps. I'll test this out tonight and will update this comment with whether or not it worked out :)

I was in the middle of making my own storage system for my stamps too. A bit different take on using the laminator actually. I made up a few laminated full size 8.5x11 inch designs for a friend with a 80# cardstock backing to insure it was less floopy when finished. Meantime it hit me why not see if this would hold my clear cling stamps. OMGosh it does. As well a job as any I've ever seen that they come with or are offered in the large fancy sets I bought twice over the years. So the added wonder is I can stamp that cardstock sheet prior to laminating it and I have a record of the stamps on the other side clinging away. I now can put them in bins like you are using, envelopes to protect like you made your pockets or purchase the clear ones which I store my cutting dies and most of my embossing folders in. Much like the fashion you are showing I use bins to file them in similar fashion 5x7 inch folders which run a bit larger than 5x7 since they hold all cards and dies and muliples there of including thick 3mm to 6 mm double sided magnetic 5.7 inch sheets too. So funny when I handed the gal her mini posters so to speak I mentioned if she'd like to use as storage envelopes all she needs to do is slit off the laminate from top or side and voila a storage pocket. That would be larger than you made here. But years ago I was trusted with 5 one hundred USA dollars to apply into a three fold large card for a companies gift to a couple who both worked for the company and their wedding. To do that I made a double sided cardstock into the middle panel of the triple folding panel and inserted the bills with on the back side a warning not to throw away card and to hold up to light to know where to cut carefully to open up on one edge and retrieve the gift hidden inside. Anyway it was a hit I guess as I missed due to a wind taking out 70% of our property the day of their wedding? But heard it worked well. Meantime I've done what you are demonstrating and what happens is my professional laminator seems to hate melding two layers of laminate together without paper of some kind between them. It leaves bubbles that I can not work out no matter the heat setting up or down. So I do add the paper. However I had a huge stack of old 3 ring binders from hubby's graduate school days I was padding and recovering and thought I would make my own storage files using those so I could put my binders in my 14x14 inch drawers where I keep the commercial ones now or up on a book shelf. But I also prefer the smaller half size 3 ring binders not to mention I can make my own bound books using all kinds of binding devices. One of my major hobbies was doing that and so have three different professional styles of binding machines plus several craft ones too. These techniques open up a lot of possiblities. My only complaint to date with the use of bins to file my stacked dies and embossing folders is they like to slip and not stay up if I have pulled a few out or it's not full yet. I haven't quite figured out a means to prvent that. I am thinking to sew up a sand bag using coated nylon fabric about the width and half height of my bins and fill it about half to 2/3 full of weighted pellets that I can slip into the bin when I have a gap and help prevent this nonsense and annoyance. ALso I might put non slip shelf liner on one side to help keep the bag also in place. By not filling full it'll be mushable to let me morph it into a means to fit the gap needed perhaps. I would use sand and though I make those for various outdoor uses it's a bit tricky and if it's too fine it can work it's way out of the seams so the weighted beds would be ideal. I'm going to make a mock up trial one next week. If it works I'll make up 3-4 of them to keep on hand. I usually have another bin empty to work into where I can grab numerous dies, stamps, folders in the category I'm using on any given project or two at a time. Then all is kept together and easy to clean up and also return everything at the end of a project. I am favoring two different Sterilite tubs whitch locking lids and one has a slight domed lid with handle so totes too the other flat and a bit wider allows me to store on the sides the super longer dies or folders I also have collected. They both stack well. Thank you for sharing your designs. I'm terrible at making videos so I have no idea how to share my ideas or fun stuff I come up with or I would for sure. I so appreciate people like yourself that take the time and the know how to do this. Thank you thank you thank you. PS love your stamps they are to will lets not say die for...but pretty darn beautiful collection. Stay safe everyone...I know this was made just about the time the pandemic was hitting the globe. And of course the story continues. My heart goes out to all those who's lives were changed by it't tragic notes. Stay safe people stay safe. And make some joy today to share.

About 5 years ago I bought the supplies to convert my block stamps to cling. This included the sticky foam pads. UGH! What a mess! Needless to say, I didn’t get far on the project. Now armed with this video for storage and organization and a product (new to me) called Tack ‘n Peel, I’m ready to try again! As others have said, thanks for the very clear instructions to make the pockets. Didn’t see the necessity for laminating the stamped image while watching but just now I can see how well it would work for storing small cling stamps in baseball card pockets. You get all of today’s gold stars!!!

Re the reference cards. You can save a laminate sheet by putting 2 pieces of paper inside. When you cut the sealed edges off you are left with two sheets of paper each with laminate on one side. Paper side for stamp reference, laminate side for stamp holding. Allows you to make reference cards in advance which you can stamp later.

Brilliant idea, thanks for sharing! I use the laminating pouch technique to store my dies on magnetic vent covers stuck to cereal box/notebook cover/chipboard and covered with decorative shelf liner. It's the best way to store dies in my opinion. I don't lose the small ones. I use the flip method similarly to easily find what I want. I also use plastic card keepers to store my larger dies in-- there are dividers that are sturdy enough to keep the dies upright. I use the same method- just larger panels and using 6 x 9 job ticket holders, though in hindsight, I think I would do the laminating pouches instead. I'm starting to convert to naked rubber using zig glue (love the stuff-- magical) and storing on large panels of two pieces of cardstock laminated for stability and in super large clear pouches, kept in magazine holders. A riff on a great idea. BTW- super cool that you're a guy who stamps/crafts :)

Hey GM Thank you for this inspiration. At the moment I store my clear stanos in Avery Elle pouches in 3 sizes and my unmounted rubberstamps in an document-organizer, stuck on A4 sized laminated sheets. I am changing my storage style because its so unfun to search through all those different storage systems to find what fits my project. Your idea is great. Have watched an other video where a woman made pouches out of clear document pouches. I will count how much pouches Id need to reorganize every stamp and chose the cheaper version. I want to get all stampsets into one size pouches. The small ones always dive between the big ones and I dont recognize them if sorted by theme or I have to search through all stamps if sorted by size. Very uncomforable. So thanks again for sharing your way of storage.!!!

One tip I use when storing dies & stamps is to copy the pic that usually comes w/ stamps (rather than stamping it out). I have a question, so if you get 4 pockets from the first sheet why are you not able to get the same 4 pockets on the second sheet? There should be room to seal the pockets and cut them out and make the opening. I feel like there is so much waste.

The purpose of the video was to give an overview of the 'sealed pocket' method for creating storage, rather than be something to be taken verbatim. Whilst measurements were given, these are not set in stone and viewers are welcome to adjust and adapt to their own sizes, preferences, choices, views and goals. If you believe you can do this using less, please do!

I am in the process of consolidating my crafting supplies in preparation for moving to a smaller home. I’m exploring different options for my stamp storage. I agree that waste bothers me and will need to examine this.. I am thinking about a system similar to this but with two adjacent sides open, or possibly only part of the second side open so that it is easier to reach in and remove or replace the stamp. I just don’t enjoy fiddling to get out supplies and find that pockets can sometimes be like that. At least this is giving me ideas!! Good luck on yours!!😊

I have tried a 3-ring notebook to store my stamps in, it's not been working for me...too floppy. I don't have laminating sheets, but I do have off-cut rolls of laminate from a machine they used at the local university years ago...I'm thinking this will work for me nicely, very nicely. Cut them to the size container I choose, make the pouches and I will have a good system so I know just where things are when I want/need them. Blessings!

Great video very helpful, I am in the middle of doing this having shelves made, got the tubs from Ikea, used all my stamp storage cards up , bought preowned to save money and bought postcard collectors pouches.but I found your video and want to do the same, what micron pouches do I need bearing in mind that I have triplet grandsons that craft with me so they need to stand up to them using them. I am shocked how much neater they are and that they take up less room than having them in their own packaging in pockets in ring binders that I was finding too heavy and were double stacked on the shelf unit they were on, so I was not using them and forgetting what I had. I have finished my cutting dies and part way through my stamps it will be a lot cheaper to but a laminator and pouches and make them myself like you. Many thanks Wendy

I'm afraid I can't remember the micron but they were very basic from a food supermarket so can't be anything super special. At least when you make them yourself, if one breaks, you only have to replace one, rather than a whole set.

I didn't need them for storing stamps in because I already have a system in place but I carry in my purse a multiple page document outlining my medical needs, allergies to drugs, emergency contacts, you name it just for emergency personnel if something were to happen. I fold that document into quarters and put it in an A2 envelope in my purse clearly marked with a Red Cross. The envelope always gets battered and shredded and the document looks very untidy. I used your method to make a pocket to put my document in and it works perfectly in my purse. Do you help me solve an annoying problem. Thank you very much.

Just watched this video, very helpful, will definitely be sorting mine out now. Do do have any recommendations for removal of stamps from wooden blocks to be able to store them in pouches too 😊

I'm a huge fan of wood block stamps so would always encourage folk to keep them but I get that they can take up a lot of space. An adhesive remover should work just fine.

@@GentlemanCrafterUK thank you John, yes I’m a big fan too but i need to start downsizing so it’s either get rid of them or reduce the storage size, I would like to keep the so this system seemed a good idea 👍

Do you do a video on how to scan & cut using design like Debbi Moore set so it only cut outlines not all the bits

Sorry I don't do many videos specific to brands as that would make the video quite limiting.

How do you get the unmounted rubber to stick to the acrylic?
@GentlemanCrafterUK
@GentlemanCrafterUK 4 ай бұрын
There are various options. You could use print stick or a repositionable glue or you can buy cling mount to add to the stamps.

So nice to see a man crafting. And funny that you work with your camera upside down. Small difference between men and women….

Thank you. For some videos I do but most I've switched. The reason? Because traditionally you would be demonstrating something face to face and it would therefore be 'upside down' so I wanted to continue that. Nothing to do with gender. 🤷‍♂️
