Didn't know Donna Summers wrote this song! 😊 How cool is that.

Brilliant performance of a brilliant song. Written by Donna Summer and husband Bruce Sudano about the divorce of his parents. It’s a story song and Dolly excels at writing and singing them, including Hard Candy Christmas and Single Women. Can you imagine if she made an album w Donna Summer? They were pals.

There are a few great photos online of Dolly and Donna hanging out together at Studio 54 during the late '70s.

Dolly has written many fine songs and is in two different songwriters halls of fame, but she did not write Hard Candy Christmas, Single Women or Starting Over Again. No need to give her credit for writing every song she ever recorded. She's covered many great songs by other songwriters and she would be the first to give credit to those songwriters. Recently Dolly has covered Purple Rain by Prince and Southern Accents by Tom Petty.

Never knew Donna Summer wrote a song for Dolly into it popped on my Facebook feed. I love discovering new, well classic music. Music used to seem much more pure IMO.

Donna didn’t write it for Dolly. She wrote it with her husband, Bruce Sudano (it was about his parents who had separated after 30 years of marriage). Dolly saw Donna perform the song on The Tonight Show, loved it and reached out to ask if she could record it.

Beautiful Dolly! Haven't heard this song for over 25yrs personally, and I used to flog this song back then, when I first bought the Dolly, Dolly, Dolly album and now to hear it tonight in July of 2022 bringing back all those memories, good memories of listening to this pleasure back then. Still as beautiful today as it was back then. My goodness. I've had the pleasure also of following her brilliant career, and I only wish nothing but best for you. You'll Always be the Queen of music to me. Blessings from God.

Beautiful song, written by the late Donna Summer and her husband Bruce Sudano, about Sudano's parents' divorce. Apparently, Dolly saw Donna performing the song on "Johnny Carson" one night, and fell in love with it, and called Donna (the two were good friends) to ask if she could record it.

That's wonderful 😊 I am glad Dolly Parton made the U.S. pop top forty, peaking at number 36, and reached number 1 on the U.S. country charts on May 24, 1980.

@@josephmullinax6118 This song was written by Donna Summer and her husband Bruce Sudano. It is very documented. Also, it spelled "Dionne" Warwick and she never covered this song.

@@JorgeEscobar-s8q That was a beautiful version of the song . However Deon Warwick And Dolly Just sang a new song together. Piece like a river .. Don't know what your point of statement was ? Unless your speaking of Dolly covering a black artist song ..? But if that's your point . Dolly isn't a racist . She didn't turn the song to a violent edition .

@@JorgeEscobar-s8q Donna summer had not yet recorded the song . But after Dolly did it .? It made Donna summer be recognized as the first black female song writer. Dolly, Dolly. "Starting Over Again" made the U.S. pop top forty, peaking at number 36, and reached number 1 on the U.S. country charts on May 24, 1980, becoming Parton's 12th number one. [2] Dolly’s recording would also make Donna Summer the first black female to co-write a number 1 country hit.[
