Labi Siffre, a wonderful singer/songwriter and poet. Born in Hammersmith, London, England. The original artist behind this masterpiece. I just finished listening to his version when this came on. I love the song, the original and this version. It's being sung by all my fav country singers. Now to the doubtful, you DONT have to go thru it to feel it. It's called Empathy! Being able to put yourself in some one else shoes and feel their pain. I beleive all three are capable of this!. I don't think Labi Siffre has been given due credit for writing some of the best songs of his era. To me, he's some sort of Curtis Mayfield. I can listen to Something Inside So Strong all day and still be motivated all the way. That's how great the song is. So great two years after it's release (1987), Kenny Rogers decided to cover it on his studio album of the same title.
