Thanks for your question! Because this product is plant butter based, it is not going to help the hair lock - instead it is designed to give finish and sheen to hairstyles that need a bit of polish. For root maintenance, the Tightening Spray is the better choice 🙂

If you have a lot of gray, the Light color might be a better option. The Light Pomade doesn't actually contain any added mineral pigment but is naturally an off-white color. You could also get a small travel size of each 🙂

I was also thinking that I would try both, the light and dark with a combination mixture because my hair is actually in between dark brown light brown with orange undertones.
