Late October 2020 saw former White Pass & Yukon 192 "Klondike Katie" leading the Dollywood Express up and down the mountain.

I didn't think I'd come to love American steam engines as much as I now do. The steam engine here is one of many that has melted my heart with love.

192 here is special to me as the first steam locomotive I ever photographed or filmed. I'm glad to see she's getting some international attention :)

Awesome! I've always wanted to see 192. I like the shot of her running light with no passenger cars.

Thanks! They leave the coaches in the depot most nights, so if you get there ~30 minutes before the first train you can see them come the "wrong way" up the hill.

@@SmokyMtnSteam Good to know. Quick question, have you ever thought about going to Wilmington, NC?
@SmokyMtnSteam3 жыл бұрын
@@BenBensonStudios I visited the battleship North Carolina as a kid but haven't been back to Wilmington since.

You should visit again someday! There's a railroad museum there with a Atlantic Coast Line 4-6-0, and there's also a shortline called the Wilmington Terminal Railroad.

"Klondike katie" and "cinderella" are very fancy names for narrow gauge steam locomotives indeed!

I'm getting ready to see this train soon and I was wondering if they allow tripod filming in Dollywood

Steam trains at amusement parks are always better than the gas and diesel-powered ones dressed up as steam. I always found it weird when I was a kid when the "steam" train went by and it was making lawnmower noises.

The first time I went to Dollywood the longest wait was for the train the rest of the rides had little or no line and I found it funny how like me people would rather ride a train than ride a roller coaster

I love 192 like a son but I’m not a huge fan of the Lunkenheimer on it.

We were there for Halloween. One of the "conductor guys" said they were having axle lubrication issues.said they were getting really hot. Did you hear anything about that?

"Klondike katie" and "cinderella" narrow gauge engines. I wonder why and how they got those interesting names. But there names are cool.

They were once White Pass and Yukon Engines in Canada and Alaska in the 1800s and early 1900s

Nice job as always! Do they still run 192 and 70 on rotation?
@SmokyMtnSteam3 жыл бұрын
Yes, unless one needs long-term work done they like to switch them every month or so.

Anyone have an idea of how you get the job of being on the engine crew at dollywood?
@TNRailProductions_013 жыл бұрын
You have to have a High School Degree and be 18 years old. Me personally I’m going to go to a technical school to further my degree. I may work at Dollywood for a bit. But I’m gonna use my degree for something else.
